Imagine walking into a 150-year-old barn filled with the smells of hot cider, fresh-baked apple pies and applewood burning in the fireplace, the sounds of live holiday dulcimer music and the sights of lights twinkling and Santa sitting atop an antique sleigh waiting to greet you.
Christmas at the Orchard has that and much more from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 21 and 28 at Beasley's Orchard in Danville. This event has become a tradition for local families and visitors to Hendricks County searching for that old-fashioned Christmas event that gets them into that holiday spirit.
If you have ever toured Beasley's old barn turned rustic market, you get a sense for the type of atmosphere it offers. Add in all of the holiday decor, music and more and you realize how perfect this location is to make holiday memories.
Guests enter the beautiful barn and are greeted with smiles and the fragrances of fresh fruit and the holidays. The beautiful stone fireplace heats the room and adds ambiance as the colors of the apples, oranges and jarred preserves entice you to peek at every shelf searching for exactly what you didn't know you needed. Along the way, you'll find special treats for everyone on your list.
During Christmas at the Orchard, children can visit with Santa Claus, pose for professional photos for a fee that could make for a perfect holiday card, have their face painted and take part in various other activities.
Visitors can also sample food and cider, shop in the market and then step out into a heated arts and crafts vendor tent to find even more holiday shopping options.
Various food trucks will even be on site as you work up an appetite from all of that shopping and fun.
