With Thanksgiving now behind us, my favorite holiday craft show, Gingerbread Christmas, is almost here and several other holiday favorites will soon follow in Hendricks County. I will feature three of my favorites today, but for a complete list of all the holiday happenings in December, check out our Events Calendar.

Tri Kappa Gingerbread Christmas

Tri Kappa Gingerbread Christmas is a juried show featuring one-of-a-kind gifts, art, holiday decor and much more. All items for sell are required to be handcrafted. This year's show includes some 120 vendors. In the past, I have bought hair accessories for my daughter, Christmas ornaments, jewelry and holiday food. There is something for almost everyone at this show. Before you go, be aware this show draws big crowds first thing in the morning. Be patient when looking for a parking spot. Tri Kappa Gingerbread Christmas is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Fieldhouse inside Plainfield High School, 1 Red Pride Drive. Admission is $3 and benefits charity.

Rural Routes to Main Street Holiday Open House

Go shopping for unique gifts while visiting Hendricks and Morgan County studios, galleries and shops. Take the self-guided Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail during the Holiday Open House December 6-8. Activities along the self-guided, experience-at-your-own-pace route include making a pine cone bird feeder at Frazee Gardens, making a pair of earrings at Gallery on the Square, enjoying a tea party at The Porch, participating in a candy-making demo at the Martinsville Candy Kitchen and much more. Hours for activities vary for each location during The Rural Routes to Main Street Holiday Open House. For a list of locations and activities click here.

2012 Holiday Fest and Cookie Walk

Buy homemade cookies, shop from craft booths and enjoy entertainment. The Holiday Fest and Cookie Walk is  from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds, 1900 E. Main St., Danville. Grab a box and fill it with homemade cookies, then shop from more than 50 vendors while enjoying holiday music. Lunch is available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Admission is free. I can’t end this post without mentioning Santa Claus. Be sure to check back right here on All Access Hendricks County Tuesday for a list of Santa’s appearances in Hendricks County.
