For the 10th year in a row, the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau is offering Hendricks County residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy an evening of family fun through its Hendricks County Night with the Indianapolis Indians on June 28 at a substantially reduced price. Half price, in fact, unless you are one of the fortunate ones who comment on this blog post for a chance to win one of three sets of four tickets they are giving away to the game. More on the contest for free tickets in a moment. I've attended in the past, and it is one of those fun nights you don't want to miss. This year, the Indians, who are the AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, take on the Toledo Mud Hens, who are the AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Victory Field is a fantastic setting for a family outing. Sit in the seats and enjoy a tremendous view of the Indianapolis skyline. Or sit in the grass in the outfield, and let the kids run off their energy while you're in perfect position to catch a home run ball. Minor league baseball is a lot of fun for everyone. I enjoy it because the players are so accessible and willing to sign autographs, chat with fans, and make sure everyone is having a great time. After each half-inning, there is always something going on, and at Hendricks County night, Hendricks County folks are involved in the silly contests involving fans out on the field, T-shirts being thrown into the crowd, music, dancing, and other activities heavy on fan involvement that make the evening pass by in the blink of an eye. The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau also will have a booth outside of center field near the main gate prior to the game providing information, such as Visitors' Guides, and will allow people to sign up for a giveaway that will include four Splash Island tickets, Monster Mini Golf tickets and tickets to a future Indians game. OK, so I bet you are wanting more information on that free ticket giveaway. To enter, you need to tell us what your favorite Hendricks County summer activity is in the comment section below this post. That's it. The drawing will be Monday, and the winners will be notified by e-mail. If you aren't one of the lucky winners, don't let that stop you from joining us for a fun evening.
