I’m longing for the warm, sunny days of spring and summer when I can plant my flower and vegetable gardens, spruce up the appearance of my landscaping and tackle those home remodeling projects that I just didn't feel like doing while hibernating this winter. That’s why I’m looking forward to attending the second annual Hendricks County Home and Garden Show from 3 to 9 p.m. March 21 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 22 at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex in Danville. I even have a special giveaway for All Access Hendricks County readers as the show has provided five pairs of tickets to give away, but more on that later. The show will feature more than 100 vendors, from local small businesses to larger national companies who specialize in home and garden products and services. You will be able to ask questions and learn about new home construction, kitchen and bath remodeling, landscaping, replacement windows, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, decorating and more to help you tackle your home and garden projects. What’s also great about the Home Show is all ticket proceeds support the Hendricks County Community Foundation Deedee Daniel Opportunity Fund. This fund provides grants to local nonprofit organizations, so they can offer programs that respond to the needs of Hendricks County residents. Also, this month, the foundation has hosted their March Mania grant award competition, in which one nonprofit organization will receive a $1,000 grant from the Deedee Daniel Opportunity Fund. Home Show attendees can help choose the $1,000 grant winner by voting on the final four nonprofit organizations while at the event. The grant winner will be announced March 22. The Home Show will feature something for everyone, according to Becky Homko, show organizer and owner of Today’s Events and Business Services. Face painting and balloons will be available for the kids, while family members and friends can pose for unique, fun photos in a vintage-style photo booth. Plus, T-Bone Disc Jockey will keep the Home Show hopping with music and games. Sports Auctions Midwest also will conduct a silent auction during the event. Attendees can bid on auction items throughout the show until 4 p.m. on Saturday. For more information on the auction items, click here. All funds raised from this auction will go to the Deedee Daniel Opportunity Fund. Home Show tickets are $10 for adults, while kids 12 and younger are free. Purchase tickets online by clicking here or go to any State Bank of Lizton location, the Ameriana Bank in Avon, Teachers Credit Union in Avon and the Hendricks County Community Foundation. Tickets also will be available at the door. As I said before, Visit Hendricks County has 10 tickets to give away to readers of this post. Five lucky winners will receive a set of two tickets (a $20 value) just by providing a comment below about what information or advice you are hoping to find at the Hendricks Home and Garden Show. The deadline to submit a comment to be entered to win tickets will be noon Monday, March 17. So, get rid of those gloomy thoughts of winter, and plan to attend the Hendricks County Home and Garden Show and get inspired for spring.
