I love to listen to live music and one of my favorite local artists is Jennie DeVoe. So, I’m pleased to share that you will soon have the opportunity to experience her soulful-blues sound in Hendricks County. royal In advance of the national release of her new CD Radiator-The Bristol Sessions, Jennie and her band have planned an intimate CD release party and concert. On Friday, DeVoe and her band will play at the historic Royal Theater in Danville.  Jennie will perform the CD in its entirety along with other favorites. Jennie began writing most of the songs on guitar and ended up writing several on piano and organ. Radiator is described as having an underlying gospel-tinged flavor. Jennie DeVoe is a local favorite. An interesting side note to this CD is that it was produced in part through a Kickstarter campaign. DeVoe raised more than 260 percent of her goal through the fan-funded website that allows fans to pledge money to creative projects. One of the project’s biggest supporters of Radiator was The Tony Stewart Foundation. Tickets for the CD release concert are $18.50 in advance and $22.50 the day of the show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. Black Swan Brewpub will be selling craft beer and wine. Be sure to buy your tickets before they sell out. Jennie and the Royal Theater have a history of sold-out concerts. If you are planning to grab dinner before the show, there are many great places to eat in Danville. I suggest Frank’s Place or the Mayberry Cafe, both of which are within walking distance of the Royal.
