DANVILLE, IN (February 6, 2014) - The Hendricks County Tourism Commission - the governing body for Visit Hendricks County - has approved new officers for the next two years including turning the gavel over to a first-time Commission President.

Lance Angle will lead the commission after his nomination was approved during a recent meeting. Angle works for Kite Reality Group, lives in Plainfield and is active in youth sports.

In addition to Angle, other new members of the Commission's Executive Committee include:

  • Vice President/President Elect - Lee Tesdahl, Artistic Designs Gallery
  • Treasurer - Lynne Fuller, F2, Inc.
  • Secretary - Amber Armstrong, Cambria Suites
  • Past President - Dick Thompson, Hendricks County Council

The Commission also will welcome a new member in February after Clay Chafin, Director of Plainfield Parks and Recreation, was appointed by the Hendricks County Commissioners.  Chafin lives in Plainfield and with his youth sports and facilities management background should become an asset to Visit Hendricks County as the sales staff becomes more active in the local sports market.

Other members of the commission include:

  • Kent McPhail, Town of Plainfield
  • Lew White, Lew White Tours
  • Jennifer Smith, Holiday Inn Express Plainfield and Staybridge Suites.

The nine-member Tourism Commission is comprised of seven appointments from the County Commissioners and two appointments by the largest municipality in the county, currently the Town of Plainfield.

In other news, Visit Hendricks County has promoted a part-time staff member to full time.

Wendy Doyle, who was hired as a part-time Office Assistant in September to fulfill a vacancy and assist with the organization's bookkeeping, was promoted this week to a full-time Office Coordinator position.

With Doyle's promotion, the Visit Hendricks County staff consists of seven full-time and two part-time employees.
