DANVILLE, IN (April 27, 2017) – Visit Hendricks County will award $10,000 in 2017 to support local events that entice visitors to the county through a new grant program.

Visit Hendricks County (VHC) will award non-matching Events Grants totaling up to $500 each for approved Hendricks County events. The rolling grant cycle begins immediately and will close quarterly on May 10, July 12 and Oct. 11 or until the funding runs out, whichever comes first with grants awarded within 30 days of those dates on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We felt it was time to begin a new chapter in our grant programs,” said Sarah Ferguson, Visit Hendricks County’s Director of Marketing. “We developed a very successful TED (Tourism Enhancement Development) Fund that served this county well for a number of years, but felt it was time to tweak it slightly. Based on the ease of applying for our very successful Bicentennial Grant program last year, we decided to follow that model.”

Any Hendricks County-based event can request funding through an online nomination form. Events must attract visitors from at least 50 miles away, take place in Hendricks County and the event host must also be a Hendricks County organization or resident.

Other grant stipulations include only one request per event and two requests maximum per organization for the calendar year; VHC getting proper recognition or sponsorship package for the grant amount, if applicable; and the event must be eligible and submitted for inclusion on VHC’s Events Calendar.

This change in grant structure marks the beginning for Visit Hendricks County as the organization plans to expand its grant opportunities even further in 2018, Ferguson said.
