Have you been to Avon Gardens? They’re known as a beautiful outdoor wedding venue, a spot for professional photo ops of seniors or prom nights and much more.

And while this Avon, Indiana, hidden gem provides a breath-taking location for special occasions, I think my favorite and often overlooked attribute is their open hours throughout the week and the large events like the Spring-Palooza Peony Festival coming up next month.

It’s spring, the Garden Center has officially opened for the season and the peonies are blooming.

Owners Taylor Doehrman, Tara Cody and the late founder, Karen Robbins started the Spring-Palooza Peony Festival three years ago, to celebrate this time of year and showcase their more than 100 varieties of peonies, along with more than five acres of other spring blooms.

At Avon Gardens, feel free to bring friends and family of all ages because anyone can enjoy the activities at the Peony Festival, and even dogs on a leash are welcome.

Tour their pristine, lush gardens, water features and the true beauty of more than 200 varieties of flowers that past festival goers have called magical, in addition to special activities including crafts and games throughout the day.

The Garden Center will offer visitors an opportunity to purchase garden supplies, bird seed, plant food, tools and more.

Of course, annuals, mixed pots, hanging baskets and perennials will be available too.  It’s a great time to grab the supplies needed to get started at home this spring.

During this special event, shop at the local artisan fair with ceramics, perfume, goat milk soaps and homemade desserts.

The entire family also can enjoy garden crafts, listen to live music and participate in games, including a special scavenger hunt.

Grab lunch and a beverage at one of the many food trucks, including Georgia’s Kitchen, Top of the Line BBQ and Traveling Tea Room of Rustic Root to name a few.

The BrewLab Canteen will also serve tea, lemonade, popping boba and cold brew coffee.
