9 Places to See Santa in Hendricks County

Ho! Ho! Ho! Guess who is coming to Hendricks County this 2013 holiday season! I have scouted out Santa’s stops and have the scoop on where you can meet up with the Jolly Elf. Winterland Light Show – Santa Claus will be hanging out at the Train Station in Ellis Park in Danville as part of the Winterland Light Show. He’s available for pictures and to hear your wish list on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 22. So, start or finish up your drive through the park with a visit with Santa. The Light Show remains open from 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 6-9 p.m. every other day, and admission is $8. You can get a discount by printing a coupon for $3 off. Santa at Metropolis Mall – As you are doing your Christmas shopping at the mall, your kids can visit Saint Nick. Santa has set up shop next to JCPenney until Christmas Eve. You can visit the Metropolis website for hours. Avon Tree Lighting Ceremony – This Saturday, Dec. 7, Santa Claus will stop by the Avon Tree Lighting Ceremony. He will be waiting for you inside the Town Hall. The ceremony is from 6-7 p.m. Breakfast with Santa – You have a few opportunities to start your day with Saint Nick. The Hendricks Regional Health YMCA is hosting two breakfasts from 8-10 a.m. on Dec. 7 at two locations in Hendricks County -- the Olive Garden in Avon and Boulder Creek Dining Company in Brownsburg. The cost for Y members is $25 per family (2 adults/4 children) and $8 for individuals. Non-members are $10 per person and children 2 and under are free. To register, call (317) 273-9622. Danville Tri-Kappa Breakfast with Santa – You also have an opportunity to have Breakfast with Santa in Danville from 7:30-8:30 a.m., Dec. 7. The breakfast will be held in the Danville Community Middle School. Tickets are limited, so be sure to call ahead at (317) 432-1175 for reservations. Christmas Under The Stars – Santa will make a grand entrance into Brownsburg during the Christmas Under the Stars Parade this Saturday, Dec. 7. Following the parade, he will make his way into the Brownsburg Town Hall to await visits from children. Pictures will be provided for free. Christmas with the Ponies and Santa – Strides to Success invites you to visit Santa along with their miniature horses. Santa will be inside the heated and decorated barn to meet with your children. Kids can also participate in games and enjoy refreshments. Admission is a $25 donation per family and supports the mission of the Strides to Success Learning Center. The event will be from 4-8:30 p.m., Dec. 13 and 14 at 1350 Terry Drive in Plainfield (behind Plainfield High School). Santa Arrives in North Salem – On Saturday, Dec. 14, Santa will arrive in North Salem on a fire truck. He will make his entrance at 1 p.m. and be available for pictures until 3 p.m. Pictures with Santa – The Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center invites you to have your picture taken with Santa from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Dec. 14 After kids give Saint Nick their wish list, they can enjoy cookie decorating, face painting and a bounce house.
