Since I was a little girl, my family has visited Beasley’s Orchard in Danville every fall, and now, I take my own children. Jumping on the hay wagon to ride out to the pumpkin patch, selecting the perfect one and grabbing some of the fabulous fresh goods in their Farm Market barn have become a tradition and a ton of fun.

However, if you haven’t been out there lately, Beasley’s has stepped up its game beyond the fall season. Recently, we headed out to the orchard for some summer fun, and couldn't believe what we found.

U pick strawberries at Beasley's Orchard

My daughter and I recently visited the Beasley Orchard to pick strawberries, and we had a great time. We still got to take the hayride out to the patch, and she had her first experience picking the fresh, delicious strawberries right off the vine.

Beasley’s offers an entire summer of U-pick opportunities. Follow their Facebook page for updates on picking availability. They start with strawberries and then move into raspberries mid-June, apples in September and October and pumpkins in the fall.

It’s not just fruits and berries you can pick there. By mid-June, Beasley’s will offer U-pick Zinnias.

By mid-July, visitors can pick sunflowers (a beautiful photo op by the way), and in August and September, you can refill the vases at home with U-pick Marigolds.

Let’s go back to that delicious food previously mentioned. In the Farm Market, which is open seven days a week, visitors can often pick up some of those fresh fruits and berries in the market in addition to a variety of other fresh produce.

Fan favorites like cantaloupe, peaches, tomatoes, watermelon and more are available during the summer months. Be sure to check in advance if you’re looking for something specific — availability changes daily.

Did you know Beasley’s apple cider family recipe is a multi-winner of the Indiana State Cider Contest?

Most recently, they’ve ventured into Semi-Sweet Hard Apple Cider and a seasonal Summer Strawberry Hard Apple Cider, too.

Inside the Farm Market, they’re also making homemade seasonal baked goods. At any given time, you can find cookies, pies, mini pies, cobbler bars and more available in the barn.

You can always call to see what they have available for customers on that specific day.

Keep in mind the U-pick season is based on the weather and the rate of crop progress.

Some days, a patch can close to allow for rest and ripening. You’ll want to check their Facebook page for daily updates and information.
