With more than 60 years of racing on the paved oval at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg, Indiana, the track has seen its share of racing greats and incredible action.
This is the second in a series previewing the 2022 action at the track. If you want more information about everything happening at the facility's drag strip in 2022, I covered it all last month which you can find by clicking here.
So, after talking to track officials, here's our list of the top events on the oval in 2022:
Always a fan favorite, which has featured a who's who of racing legends in its history including the first-ever winner, A.J. Foyt, back in 1961, this year's Carb Night Classic will take over the track on May 27.
As a primer to that weekend's Indianapolis 500, this year's event will feature four different classes with four featured races promising a night full of open-wheel action. The Road to Indy Series will have two different classes compete -- USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000. Then the track will bring back USAC Racing with its Pavement Midgets and Silver Crown series taking over to finish the exciting action.
General admission tickets cost $25 and free parking and camping will be available.
One of the most common questions Coler had received prior to last year was: When are you going to bring Thursday Night Thunder back?
Well, race fans got their wish when this event finally returned in 2021, and it is back again in 2022.
The June 30 event will feature USAC Pavement Midgets and Pavement Sprint Cars as well as the Silver Crown Series, but the track made this experience much more than just racing when Jeff Gordon returned to the track he used to call home and was honored.
Coler said they want to continue to pay homage to this event's storied past celebrating the personalities and broadcasting that made it so memorable.
Like last year, he wouldn't say who would be honored this year deciding to keep it a surprise for all the fans.
Perhaps the most exciting and most anticipated event in some time on the oval will occur on July 29 when the NASCAR series finally returns to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park with the TSport 200 to kick off a weekend full of racing.
Fans can experience a doubleheader on that Friday night under the lights. In addition to the TSport 200 main event, the ARCA Menards Series will open the night with the Reeses 200, so fans will be treated to 400 laps of racing with one ticket.
General admission prices start at $35 with free camping and parking and children 12 and under also getting in free with a paid adult.

While Friday not sounds like a blast, the fun doesn't end there. On Saturday, the CRA Super Late Models will keep the action going with three more races.
Coler even said he has heard some of NASCAR's top drivers who will be in town for the Brickyard event the next day may possibly compete in one or more of the races at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Saturday.
The name is a little misleading only because this event was postponed due to weather back in March to Aug. 1.
A doubleheader of open-wheel action will include the National Pavement Midet Championship along with the 500 Sprint Car tour, and the best part is general admission tickets are completely free!
The final event I want to highlight here will include the final races of the year for the National Pavement Midgets, Sprint Cars and the USAC Silver Crown Series.
Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, Championship Saturday will crown season champions in all of those series.
General admission tickets cost $25 with children 12 and under getting in free with a paid adult. The track also will offer free camping and parking that weekend.
