Is Halloween your favorite holiday? If so, you don't have to wait until the end of the month to celebrate. Saturday's Pumpkin Smash Bash in Brownsburg gives Halloween lovers young and old a chance to enjoy some spooky fun.

One of the highlights of the event is the 5-0 5k Foot Pursuit, a race that allows runners of all ages to run alongside police officers in full uniform. Race registration begins at 8 a.m., and the race starts at 8:30. You can also register online.

Participation is $30 for adults and $20 for students, and all runners receive a T-shirt. 

Even if running isn't your thing, the Pumpkin Smash Bash has tons to offer. Here are some of the great things you can expect at this family celebration.

This year's event also features an opportunity to give back. Participants can bring a new or gently used coat to donate to the first annual Bundle 'Em Up Coat Drive. Coats will be collected and distributed to those in need. Bring a coat to donate, and you'll receive three tickets to vote in the Build-A-Bale Contest!

  • When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. this Saturday.
  • Where: Brownsburg Town Hall Green, 61 N. Green St.
  • Cost: The event is free, but tickets are required for some events. Tickets are 25 cents each, and ticket amounts for each activity can be found here.
  • Parking: Participants can park in the gravel lot next to the old St. Malachy parish. There is also limited parking available behind the Town Hall in the lot on North Adams Street.
  • Benefit: Proceeds from the Pumpkin Smash Bash will go to the Before and After School Enrichment Program (B.A.S.E.), providing scholarships for families in need.
