During the recent stay-at-home orders, many people found they had time available to dig into their hobbies or learn new ones, hence the popularity of the #quarantinebaking hashtag.
For me and my friends, we were ready for this moment. As scrapbookers, we had been hoarding all the supplies for years and now could justify buying more paper, stickers, pens, adhesives, inks and all the things that we love to use while paper crafting.
And now, in our new post-COVID world, Hendricks County, Indiana, will be bringing a show to the area and welcoming a new overnight retreat center focused on scrapbookers, paper crafters and card makers.
Creative Hearts Retreat
New to Hendricks County is the Creative Hearts Retreat in Danville. This single-floor house provides a destination for groups up to 8 looking for a place to work on all kinds of crafty arts – scrapbooking, stamping, card-making, paper crafting and sewing in a quiet, country atmosphere.
During your stay, each guest will have their own workspace in the craft room and twin bed to sleep in. The crop room offers comfy chairs, plenty of outlets and overhead lighting along with a wall-mounted TV to enjoy during your stay. You can rent the retreat house for a flat rate of $650 for Friday to Sunday, and you can add on a Thursday for just $150 more. Weeknights are also available.
Indiana Paper Arts Gathering
Creek Bank Creations hosts the Indiana Paper Arts Gathering every November and has made its home at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex the past several years. This week they decided to change the format and host a one-day make and take and shopping event Nov. 7.
The event will be free and feature three make and takes in the expo hall with plenty of room to space out. You can learn more on this Facebook post.
Are you a scrapbooker? A card-maker? Or what other crafty hobbies do you have? Come see me at these events – I will be there – masked up and carrying on.
