The local businesses that serve as my quick stop on the way home or on the way to a meeting are my favorite. The kids want a boba drink and I can get a coffee. We can grab a sweet treat for home or the small office party.
These locations also serve as my go-to gifts for teachers, neighbors and co-workers throughout the year because these grab-and-go treats are affordable, delicious and something nearly everyone would enjoy. If you want to order a large amount of cookies, cakes, fudge or chocolate, be sure to call ahead and give them several days to prepare.
But if you’re looking for a few items, here are some of the best places in Hendricks County, Indiana, to find them.
The charcuterie boards of all sizes and themes are a work of art and a lovely addition to the family get together or the table centerpiece when friends come over for a party or other gathering.
Did you know they also have amazing soups like loaded baked potato and pumpkin apple bacon among others? Be sure to follow Brie & Bartlett on social media for information on the adorable (and tasty) holiday-themed treats.
I’ve gifted The Fudge Kettle for teachers appreciation week in the past and they were a hit. This Avon shop has some great grab-and-go treats from homemade fudge of all different flavors to some of our favorite retro candy like peppermint sticks and jelly beans.
They also have holiday-themed gift ideas throughout the year. It’s affordable, cute and brings a smile to someone’s face.
Who doesn’t love chocolate? Schakolad Chocolate Factory in Plainfield is ready for any occasion, whether it’s the holidays or a movie night at home. They have an assortment of boxes filled with truffles, chocolate bombs and chocolate-covered pretzels that make an affordable gift or special treat.
Watch for community classes and special events to learn more about how they create these delicious pieces in-house.
The Civil-War era barn and market at Beasley's Orchard is packed with fresh produce of the season and is open Monday through Saturday.
It’s a great place to stop by for fresh apples, potatoes, broccoli and so much more but between the bakery and their local selection of breads, meats, cheese and seasonings, it’d be difficult not to find a gift or an entire meal at Beasley’s Market.
Cupcakes, cookies, pie (sliced or whole), cheesecake, muffins…you name it and the ladies at Two Chicks Whisky Business have something fresh and ready to pick up.
Be sure to stop in early. When supply is gone, it’s gone for the day but those made-from-scratch, unique recipes can’t be beat.
If you’re looking for something a little more robust – think, soups, casseroles, pot pies and other homemade meals, Beehive customers can not only sit down and eat breakfast, lunch or dinner in their dining area, they can take something home for their next meal, too.
In addition, enjoy cupcakes, scones and something called s’more brownies, which I’m sorry I missed but no worries, it will return as they restock supply.
They’ve already got their holiday menu up and offer everything from a gifting box with a cookie, macaron and cupcake to a Christmas morning box full of breakfast pastries.
