Shortly after I moved to Indiana in 2007, I was told to check out Gray Brothers Cafeteria in Mooresville. Even though it was a little further of a drive for me, I checked it out, and it didn't disappoint. Their food reminded me of being at my grandma's house eating her homecooked food! Delicious!
I was so excited to see they were opening up a new satellite location in Avon this last November. I showed up on opening day and grabbed some pies for our family's holiday gathering!
An Iconic Restaurant
Before I get to the new grab-and-go location in Avon, a little history about the original. Gray Brothers Cafeteria has become well known as the place for pie! They've been creating homecooked meals and desserts since 1944 and moved to their current location in Mooresville in the 1960s.
They were even featured on Man vs. Food! in 2010! That original location in neighboring Morgan County has been in the news recently as the owners are looking to sell it, but it appears the Avon location will be unaffected.
Baked Goods To Go
I was excited to check out the new location. They offer frozen pies, pies by the slice, baked goods like muffins and preorder options. We grabbed a pecan pie.
We've gone back a few times and gotten muffins which is always a hit in our family.
Menu Items
The pies and desserts we all love at their Mooresville location are available in Avon! You can get many pies and cakes by the slice or order a whole one. They keep their website up to date on options and pricing too!
But because this location only offers food to go, they do not have seating. It is carry out only.
