July is one of the busiest months of the year in Hendricks County, Indiana. Independence Day celebrations kick off the month before giving way to the county fair, NASCAR racing, live music, cultural events and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Independence Day Celebrations

Hummel Park fireworks show in Plainfield

There’s no shortage of patriotic fun in Hendricks County this milestone Fourth of July.

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with fireworks, parades, live entertainment, food vendors, family activities and community festivals happening throughout the county.

National Powwow

Where: Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex, Danville

Experience one of the Midwest’s premier Native American cultural celebrations during National Powwow, which only occurs every three years.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy traditional dancing, drumming, singing, handcrafted artwork, authentic food and cultural demonstrations while learning about the rich traditions of American Indian communities. It’s a colorful, family-friendly event that has become a long-time tradition.

Critter Feeding

Pecar Park, nature park, Washington Township parks, tortoise

Date: July 10, 2026 | Noon-1 p.m.
Where: Pecar Park Nature Center, Avon

Meet some of Pecar Nature Park’s most popular residents during Critter Feeding. Families can watch park naturalists feed turtles, snakes, fish and other animal ambassadors while learning more about Indiana wildlife and the important role these animals play in local ecosystems.

It’s a fun stop for younger kids and a great excuse to explore one of Hendricks County’s most scenic parks.

Evenings in Danville Summer Concert Series

Members of Conch Republic will perform in downtown Danville.

Where: Ellis Park Amphitheater, Danville

Nothing says summer in Indiana quite like a local county fair, and Hendricks County has one of the best facilities and fairs around.

Spend the week celebrating the Stars, Stripes and County Fair Nights, this year's theme, enjoying carnival rides, livestock shows, exhibits, grandstand events, live entertainment and all of your favorite fair food.

Where: Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Brownsburg

One of the biggest racing weekends of the summer begins right here in Hendricks County at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

The NASCAR Doubleheader features the ARCA Menards Series LIUNA! 150 followed by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series TSport 200 under the lights at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Sleeping Beauty Dance & Light Show

Sleeping Beauty Dance & Light Show will have two performances on July 25.

Date: July 25, 2026 | 4 & 6 p.m.
Where: Hendricks Live!, Plainfield

Watch the beloved story of Sleeping Beauty come to life in a dazzling new way. This unique production combines graceful ballet with hundreds of glowing fiber-optic lights woven into the dancers’ costumes, creating a magical experience for audiences of all ages.

Tickets remain for both shows but are selling fast. Organizers are currently running a 20 percent discount.
