May is Racing Month in Indianapolis and the surrounding area, and as we take a look at some of our May events in Hendricks County, Indiana, you'll definitely notice a four-wheeled theme in a lot of them.

Racing isn't the only theme for events taking place in Central Indiana, though. Let's take a look at some of what's happening in May in Hendricks County.

First Friday Cruise-Ins First Friday Cruise-Ins are a fun, free, family experience!

The Indy Hi-Winders Car Club is back in 2022 for its 60th year of existence, and members of the club come to the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville on the first Friday of each month from May 6 through October 7, 2022 for First Friday Cruise-Ins.

Each event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m.

First Fridays are a lot of fun for the entire family. Classic cars invade the Courthouse Square for these free events, and the cars' owners are happy to talk about their particular pride and joy. Stroll around at your convenience and take all the photos that you want of these four-wheeled beauties.

First Fridays are also a great time to grab a meal at the famous Mayberry Cafe, Frank's Place, Court House Grounds or Danville Dips while you're on the Square. Afterward, catch a movie for just $5 per person (you read that right!) at the Royal Theater!

Dancing with the Hendricks County Stars Dancing with the Hendricks County Stars is a fun evening for a good cause.

One of the county's premier events, Dancing with the Hendricks County Stars will be held at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds and Conference Center in Danville on Saturday, May 14 at 6 p.m. This year's theme is "A Masqued Affair," with all proceeds benefiting the Hendricks County Historical Museum & Old County Jail! Themed attire is encouraged but not required.

Local celebrities have been training with dance instructors for the past several weeks, and they're ready to compete for the prize! Doors open at 6 p.m. with a cash bar cocktail hour where you can meet the dancers, followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. and the dance competition beginning at 8 p.m.

The Coachman Restaurant will provide an amazing meal, including their acclaimed prime rib. The entertainment is always the highlight of the night where the 10 dancers and their professional Arthur Murray instructors will perform and compete! You'll have a chance to pick up some fun and unique items in their silent auction where bidding will start a few days before the event and go through the night!

Cleetus & Cars Cleetus & Cars will bring crazy stunts to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park

YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland and his crew bring action, mayhem, colossal burnouts and general insanity back to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg on May 14 and 15 during Cleetus & Cars

Saturday's scheduled events are highlighted by a Street Car Shootout, which we're told will involve jet cars, and the Burnout Competition in a specially-designed burnout pit that was constructed just for this event.

Then on Sunday, Cleetus and company move from the drag strip to the oval track for the Indy 800, where they will race their Crown Victoria cars. This is a new event this year, so there's no telling what kind of shenanigans will take place during this long race on a short track!
