November is here, and as we hurtle toward the holiday season at full throttle, we have a bunch of activities going on in Avon, Danville and even Lizton, Indiana, this month to keep the entire family busy! We have music saluting our nation's veterans, some fun holiday shopping opportunities, a train show, a holiday light show and more!

Here are some of the November events that I'm looking forward to:

Over in Lizton, Norelu is hosting their Holiday Open House on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their store located at 103 W. They have them in both small and large sizes, and if I had to guess, I'd predict that these fellas will be flying off the shelves. So make sure that you get to the Holiday Open House early!

The Winterland Holiday Light Show opens at Ellis Park on Nov. 29.Winterland Holiday Light Show

The mother of all holiday light shows in Hendricks County opens the same night as Christmas on the Square every year. The Winterland Holiday Light Show at Ellis Park in Danville has become an annual, can't-miss tradition around here.

Winterland has more than a million lights throughout the park, and many of them are synchronized to Christmas music that you can play over your car stereo as you take as many laps around the park as you'd like. Admission is just $5 per carload during the week and $10 per carload on the weekends.

Winterland is open daily from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30 (except for Christmas Day) from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays and from 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
