September is upon us, and it's a month packed with all kinds of things to do in Hendricks County, Indiana! We've got festivals, motorsports, movie premiers, live music, a maze and much more!

Dodge//SRT NHRA U.S. Nationals
The Big Go is the biggest and best event in drag racing each year and is the final race in which drivers can qualify for the NHRA Countdown to the Championship. A ticket is also a pit pass, and they offer tons of fun activities for children.
And with children 12 and under getting in free with a paid adult, this is a family outing you must try, but don't forget ear protection!

Mayberry Man Movie Premier
Make your way to the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, to celebrate the premier of "Mayberry Man," which was filmed (in part) in Danville!
Scheduled events throughout the weekend include a comedy show at the Royal Theater, live music, a car show, watching the movie's stars arrive in classic automobiles, a picnic, sack races, carryout specials from local restaurants, and fun prizes. There will be something for everyone!

North Salem Old Fashion Days
Get ready for three days of family fun during the 44th Annual North Salem Old Fashion Days from Sept. 4-6!
There will be a parade, live music, vendors, food, tractor pulls and horse pulls, bed races! A smorgasbord breakfast kicks off the festival at 7 a.m. on Sept. 4 at the United Methodist Church on Main Street in North Salem, and don't miss the largest parade in Hendricks County at 11 a.m.! Be sure to bring a sack for the kiddos as candy will be aplenty and plan to come early as parking will fill up fast.

McCloud Prairie Maze
It happens only once every 17 years, and Brood X emerged from the ground at McCloud Nature Park outside of North Salem in 2021, so Hendricks County Parks & Recreation is honoring the cicada this year with the McCloud Prairie Maze!
Open dawn to dusk daily from Sept. 4 through Oct. 31, 2021, this maze is fun for the entire family, including leashed dogs.
Admission to McCloud Nature Park and the McCloud Prairie Maze is free.

Spend a day exploring seven acres of sunflowers at your leisure while also picking your own stems. Admission of $5/person includes one stem, but you can choose to pick a few more stems or a whole bucket of blossoms!
There are a limited amount of buckets, so you can purchase them ahead of time or upon arrival while supplies last. Additional stems may be purchased upon arrival.

Fair on the Square
Danville Tri Kappa's Fair on the Square and Handmade Market is an annual community event that draws visitors and locals to the streets surrounding the historic Hendricks County Courthouse in Danville.
This year's fair takes place on Sept. 11-12, and is free to attend.
The event includes more than 100 booths of shopping, live entertainment, locally grown foods and more, and is the centerpiece for what has become a popular community weekend.

Quaker Day Craft & Community Festival
On Sept. 18, the Plainfield Friends Meeting Church hosts the Quaker Day Craft & Community Festival to celebrate the town's heritage.
Craft and community vendors will set up on the church's front lawn, and there will be food trucks there for hungry festival-goers as well as a car show.
A parade also marches through the heart of Plainfield at 10 a.m.

Summer Sounds on the Square: Levi Riggs
With a voice pure and powerful, and an approachable, childhood friend-like persona, fans are no more won over by a sweet summer breeze than by Levi Riggs.
The Courthouse Square is a great place to bring your family, friends and lawn chairs for live music! A food court and adult beverages will be available inside the venue. Purchase $10 tickets for those attending who are 21 years old and up. All others are free.

NMCA World Street Finals
The NMCA World Street Finals feature the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series, heads-up drag racing showcasing the wildest nitrous-gulping turbocharged and supercharged door-slammers, and wild outlaw radial style racing.
Also, the region’s best Stock and Super Stock racecars return to Lucas Oil Raceway to see who will be crowned the muscle car champion.

Avon Community Heritage Festival
The Avon Community Heritage Festival has always been about creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere where kids and adults can enjoy a day outside among friends and others in the community. This year's annual event takes place Sept. 25 at Washington Township Park in Avon.
The fun begins with the "Hue Are Essential" 5K Color Throw and Fun Run, followed by a trivia contest and a concert by Crowd Therapy. There will also be craft and business vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, a chance to connect with local officials on Democracy Row and fireworks to close the night.
