Each of our towns will experience more than three minutes of totality starting at approximately 3:06 p.m. on April 8.

Eclipse Photography Class

Presented by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation, this event partners with Walt Kuhn, Director of Education from Roberts Camera. Kuhn will answer common questions on how to photograph this incredible event. Advanced registration is required by Feb. 16. Recommended for ages 6 through adult.

2024 Hendricks County Eclipse

Win a Two-Night Stay!

Visit Hendricks County has partnered with the Embassy Suites Plainfield/Indianapolis Airport Hotel to give away a free two-night stay during the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. The deadline for this giveaway is 11:59pm ET March 20, 2024. The winner will be notified shortly after.

As part of the Hendricks County Senior Center's monthly nature-themed programming, a Hendricks County Park naturalist will explain the science behind the phenomena of a total solar eclipse and how to safely view the eclipse. Presented by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation, lunch is prepared by Hendricks Regional Health Hospital.

Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch Solar Eclipse Viewing

Join Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch in viewing the total solar eclipse. Meet the alpacas while you're there. This is the first time in 819 years that a Total Solar Eclipse has been visible in Indianapolis, and it will be another 129 years before it occurs again.  Please bring your own special glasses to safely view the phenomenon.


Race to the Eclipse

Presented in partnership with the Town of Brownsburg and Visit Hendricks County, this event promises to be one to never forget. Not only will on-site camping be available, but there will also be live music, food and family-friendly activities. 

The main feature of the event will be the Eclipse Dragstrip Race in which attendees will get to witness the exhilarating spectacle of NHRA nitro cars racing down the dragstrip during the eclipse – a true sight to behold.

  • Time: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Price: Many activities are free. Prime hillside viewing spots are available for $30 and include a custom blanket and glasses. Food is available for purchase from a variety of food truck vendors. 

Make a whole day of it, as the Brownsburg Public Library celebrates this once-in-a-lifetime event. Sponsored in part by Visit Hendricks County and the Friends of the Brownsburg Public Library, kids can enjoy STEM activities, face painting, LEGO building, an indoor planetarium and more.


Solar Eclipse: Military Tribute

Solar Eclipse 2024: Military Tribute at The Shops at Perry Crossing

Friends with the local military branches will be collaborating with The Shops at Perry Crossing for a moment to remember. Expect virtual reality simulators, a touch-a-truck experience and other entertainment in addition to prime viewing spots that are free to the public in an outdoor lifestyle mall.

Head to Murphy Aquatic Park for a stylish viewing of the solar eclipse with Washington Township Parks & Recreation! Registration includes access to a diverse range of bounce houses and interactive activities, live music, food trucks and eclipse glasses. Everyone who plans to attend must register as parking and glasses are limited.


Total Solar Eclipse at W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park

Sponsored by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation, the park will celebrate with a special program, and then guests are welcome to stay to watch the eclipse. Find the perfect favorite spot in the park and enjoy the show! This event will even have free certified, eye-protection glasses for the first 750 park guests that day!


Experience the Solar Exclipse at Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds

Experience the Eclipse Like Never Before!

Join the fun at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds for an all-day educational experience for children of Hendricks County! Activities will include STEM-related activities.

Onsite camping will be available.

Join central Indiana’s newest event venue and participate in a family-friendly viewing party that will take place in the arts center event space and adjoining outdoor terrace. Enjoy artistic and educational activities about the historic total solar eclipse for children and adults of all ages.

Socialize, learn and witness the world’s reaction to this extraordinary happening while monitors around our venue will be live streaming. Entertainment, snacks and family-friendly drinks will be provided. Cash bar will be available.

Head to Beasley's Orchard for so much more than just the viewing of the total solar eclipse. Festival admission allow guests access to the farm including onsite food vendors, live music, games and family entertainment activities and an open space for families to view the eclipse.

Camping options for the eclipse in Hendricks County

Looking for a campground during the Solar Eclipse? We have two great locations to check out!

Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park - Brownsburg, IN

You may purchase a camping pass that allows access in the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park campground area on Sunday, April 7 at noon. Campers will need to vacate the facility by noon on Tuesday, April 9.


Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds - Danville, IN

The Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds will also allow access for camping during the eclipse. Once confirmed, you will receive notification from the fairgrounds staff.
