It's a great weekend to be in Hendricks County! This weekend brings many great events, especially if you love the arts, nature, or a great deal. Here are just a few of the exciting activities happening this weekend.
Parents and grandparents can browse more than 90,000 gently used children's items for sale at the Here We Grow Again spring consignment sale. Here We Grow Again is one of my favorite places to stock up on clothes and toys for my kids, and the selections and prices can't be beat. If you love shopping and saving, be sure to head out to the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex Friday, Saturday and Sunday for this bi-annual sale. To read more about this event, check out this preview by one of our other local insiders.
Another unique opportunity to shop can be found at the Hendricks County Parks and Recreation Native Plant Sale, happening from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday at Sodalis Nature Park, 7700 S. County Road 975 East in Plainfield. Gardeners can shop from a wide variety of plants that are native to Hendricks County, and get advice on how to help them grow from local horticulture experts.
The arts also will thrive in Hendricks County this weekend. If you love theater, music, or visual art, we've got some great opportunities for you to appreciate our local talent.
Arsenic and Old Lace opens this weekend at Longstreet Playhouse. This hilarious play by the Hendricks Civic Theatre is one the whole family can enjoy. If you've never seen this classic show on stage, don't miss your chance!
The Hendricks County Symphony is offering a free performance on Sunday, featuring the talents of Leonard Cheatham on the cello. This is a great opportunity to enjoy classical music and support our local arts community.
If visual art is your thing, you won't want to miss Arts Gala: Perspective all weekend long at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. My fellow blogger Kelly has written an excellent preview of this event, which features painting, photography, sculpture, and more from local artists. A reception on Friday will also include live music and refreshments. This would make a great date night!
One of the greatest things about Hendricks County is that it has something for everyone. You can find more great events on our Events Calendar, and you can dig deeper into what's going on in the area right here on the blog.
Get out there and enjoy the weekend!
