Spring Break is over for most schools, but that doesn't mean the fun has to come to an end. Take some time this weekend to relax and have some fun with your friends and family at one of these events in Hendricks County.
Bountiful Babies at the Ranch
I can't think of anything cuter than my adorable baby girl interacting with a baby animal.
If you also have a little one between the ages of 1 and 8, make sure to take him or her out to Natural Valley Ranch, 6310 E. County Road 350 North in Brownsburg Sunday afternoon for the ranch's Bountiful Babies event from 2-4 p.m.
Children will have an opportunity to learn about the parts of a horse, and there will also be crafts, face painting, pony rides, and a photo booth where kids can get their pictures taken with a baby animal.
Advanced ticket purchase is recommended. Tickets are available online for $5 for ages 12 months and up. Guests are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to a local food pantry.
Trot the Trail 5K and 10 Miler
This is the time of year that I usually dust off my running shoes and try to start getting back into my outdoor workout routine. But to be honest, it can be hard to feel motivated. One of the best ways I've found to keep myself motivated is to sign up for a race.
This weekend, Plainfield is hosting its annual Trot the Trail 5K and 10-miler race. The race is designed to help people who are training for the Indianapolis Mini Marathon, and proceeds will go toward the construction of the town's Miracle Playground.
On site registration is from 7-8 a.m., and the cost is $20. Click here for more information.
Hot Blown Glass Flower Workshop
If you're looking to get in touch with your creative side, why not give glass blowing a try?
As part of the Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail Second Saturdays event, Hot Blown Glass, Ltd., which is located at 3717 S. County Road 200 East in Clayton, is offering a Glass Flower Workshop. I contacted the owner, Lisa Pelo, and she said spots are still available.
Each participant will get to create two solid formed, pulled flowers. How cool! The workshop is from noon-2 p.m.
You can find more information here.
I even have a bonus activity for you on Friday night. Relive your high school prom at the Avon-Washington Township Parks and Recreation Department's Adult Prom. The prom will be held at the Washington Township Park Pavillion Center, 435 Whipple Lane in Avon, from 8-11 p.m. on Friday.
Brian Whitis will serve as the disc jockey, and there will be a cash bar available as well as snacks and desserts. Plus, a king and queen will be crowned at the event.
Tickets are $45 per couple. Contact Alisha at (317) 730-0803 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
