Christmas is so close it almost makes me sad. Sad because I know this cold winter is going to continue and soon enough the Holiday cheer will be over. In an effort to savor every last drop of holiday goodness, let's make a pact to have a fun-filled weekend! No need to worry I have you covered with all the fun Christmas activities right here in Hendricks County to make the weekend count. Friday, Dec. 20 Savor the Classics -- Get the family ready in their Christmas pajamas and head out for some fun at the Washington Township Park Pavilion Center for a free viewing of Polar Express, December’s Family-Friendly Film at 7 p.m. I can't think of a better way to get the family in the holiday spirit than to take in this classic. Concessions will be available. Saturday, Dec. 21 Last-Minute Shopping -- Have a few gifts you still need to purchase? No problem. Head to Metropolis Mall in Plainfield from 11 a.m.-noon. Radio Disney will be on hand for some fun, holiday activities for all the kiddos. Kids of all ages will enjoy singing, dancing and playing games while you get a free moment to finish your shopping. Take in the Beauty of the Season -- Head to McCloud Nature Park on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. for a beautiful naturalist-led snowshoe hike for a discussion of old time Yule traditions. This fun event will include a hike on Red Tailed Ridge, weather permitting. The park has a limited number of snowshoes so be sure to bring your own if you have some. All ages are welcome for this event making it a great family activity! Since this is the last weekend before Christmas, be sure not to miss out on taking the family to visit the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville to read about Clarence the Christmas Camel on business windows as well as the Winterland light show every evening in Ellis Park in Danville. I hope that you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!
