Summer in Hendricks County is off to a great start. We've had gorgeous weather, and tons of fun activities for kids and adults. This weekend is no exception; here are a few events that I think you won't want to miss.

Society For Creative Anachronism 50 Year Celebration

Travel back in time at the Society For Creative Anachronism 50 Year Celebration, which begins this weekend. This event features lots of live music, daring feats performed by the circus troupe Clan Tynker, and many, many more unique events perfect for any historical reenactment enthusiast. This event begins on Friday at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds and lasts through June 27th.

Glass Artists in Action

Lisa Pelo glass blowing at Hot Blown GlassThis weekend also offers the opportunity to see some of the area's most talented artists in action. Local artist Lisa Pelo will be hosting the Glass Artists in Action event at her studio in Clayton. You'll see gifted craftsmen create a wide variety of glass artwork, and on Friday night you can enjoy a performance from glass artist and fire dancer Chad Balster. There's an excellent preview of this event on our Insider Blog.

Summer Sounds Concert Series

Downtown Danville's Summer Sounds Concert Series kicks off this Saturday with MoJo Gumbo. Bring out the whole family out to the Courthouse Square, and don't forget your lawn chairs and sunscreen! Gates open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30. A food court and beer garden will be open for your enjoyment. Admission is $7 for adults over 21 (bring your ID!) and kids under 21 are free.

If you want to spend some time out in nature this weekend, we recommending heading to McCloud Nature Park on Saturday for their educational program on hummingbirds. Experts from Wild Birds Unlimited will be sharing more about these beautiful birds, including their migratory patterns and the best way to attract them to your own yard. This free event is great for all ages!

Whether you choose one of these events or make your own fun, I hope you take advantage of all summer in Hendricks County has to offer. For more fun ideas, check out our Events Calendar and the Insider Blog
