We have a plethora of fall activities for the entire family here in Hendricks County, Indiana, and the coming weekend is no exception. Taste some beer, admire some creative scarecrows, let the dogs out, enjoy some fall festivals, and take in an ABA basketball game during the weekend of Oct. 18-20.

The annual Scarecrow Display around the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville remains on display daily through the end of the month.

This unique, annual activity is a great way to enjoy Indiana in the fall. Come stroll around the Courthouse Square and see how the creative folks from Danville and the surrounding areas have outdone themselves by creating dramatic scarecrow displays. The scarecrows disappear before Halloween so don't wait too long!

Beasley's Dog Daze at the Maze

Grab a couple of leashes along with Fido and Spot, and head out to Beasley's Orchard in Danville on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. for Beasley's Dog Daze at the Maze.

Enjoy pet costume contests, delicious food, pet supply vendors, hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch, The Barnyard Bonanza Family Activity Area, face-painting, and of course, The Corn Maze! Beasley’s donates 50% of the proceeds from this event to support the efforts of local animal rescue groups.

The mission of Dog Daze at the Maze is to raise money and gain awareness for local rescue groups, as well as to offer a day of fun and good times for pet seekers, pet owners, and their pets alike. Beasley’s encourages pet owners to bring their pets along for a final adventure through the 8-acre corn maze. Anyone seeking a pet is invited to come visit the many rescue groups onsite that day who have many adorable adoptables needing loving homes.

Hayrides are very popular at the Fall Colors Festival at McCloud Nature ParkFall Colors Festival at McCloud Nature Park

The Fall Colors Festival -- a fun, free, family-friendly festival featuring fabulous fall foliage -- returns to McCloud Nature Park just outside of North Salem on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Come out to McCloud to celebrate the colorful autumn leaves and enjoy archery, throwing atlatls (ancient hunting weapons), operating an apple cider press, hayrides (nominal fee), yard games, demonstrations, food vendors, crafts, and more!

Hendricks County Hoppy Halloween

The 3rd Annual Hendricks County Hoppy Halloween takes place on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at IndyWest Harley-Davidson located at 6201 Cambridge Way in Plainfield.

This event will feature approximately 25 Indiana craft breweries, wineries and distilleries offering unlimited samples throughout the entire event. The will be live music from renowned DJ 3PM of Indianapolis, great food available for purchase from local food trucks, games, raffles, a costume contest with cash prizes and more! Most attendees dress up in Halloween costumes, so get yourself dressed up and enjoy the fun afternoon!

Our very own American Basketball Association (ABA) team, the Indiana Lyons, go to battle with the Kentucky Enforcers at Bosstick Gym, located at 49 N. Wayne Street in Danville, on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The ABA is fast-paced, high-scoring and a lot of fun for the whole family, and the Lyons organization is extremely family-friendly. Tickets are just $10/person, and kids age 5 and under are just $5, as are military veterans. Concessions are very reasonable, with no individual item costing more than $2.50 and no combo costing more than $4.

So far, the Lyons are undefeated, winning their first two games by scores of 151-97 and 165-101. Can they make it three in a row on Saturday? Bring the entire family out to Bosstick Gym and cheer them on against the Enforcers!

Fall Harvest Days at Nehemiah Ranch

One of Hendricks County's hidden treasures is Nehemiah Ranch in Avon, and on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m., Nehemiah Ranch hosts Fall Harvest Days.

Take the family out to this little oasis of solitude for some hayrides, a visit to the pumpkin patch, hot dogs over the campfire, s'mores and live music. This is a free event, but donations are welcome.
