  • Overview

The 31st Annual B&O Bicycle Tour will showcase portions of the B&O Trail including a newly paved section as well as scenic countryside. You can choose from 12-, 16-, 25-, 45- or 66-mile loops. After the ride, stick around for lunch and some live music.

The safety of riders and our volunteers is paramount. Our county health department does not require a COVID mitigation plan at this time. We encourage everyone to use common sense and to NOT attend if you are feeling sick or have been exposed to anybody who is. We are monitoring the state's COVID requirements and will implement a plan if required as the date of the event approaches.

Listen to live music as you enjoy a fantastic lunch catered by Smokin' J's Barbecue immediately after the ride. Once again this year there will be a black bean veggie burger option! Thank you to Aqua Systems for donating water, Piazza Produce for the fruit, and Eby-Brown for the snacks at the SAG stops.

      ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS
Please note that these routes are subject to change at the time of the event due to unforeseen road closures or other safety concerns.

12 miles — Ideal for beginning cyclists and families: an easy-going, flat ride; you will travel a few miles on the B&O Trail. After turning around at CR 500E (Tilden trail head), it returns via the same route. There is a refreshment stop at the Rotary shelter about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through the ride.

16 miles — New this year to celebrate and highlight the westward trail expansion in Hendricks County we have added a 16 mile route option. Still good for novice cyclists and families: this is still an easy-going, flat ride; you will travel a number of miles on the B&O Trail. Riders will turn around where the paved trail now ends at CR 250E, returning via the same route. There is a refreshment stop at the Rotary shelter which you will pass twice about 1/4 and 3/4 of the way through the ride.

25 miles — You will ride a number of miles on the B&O Trail. You will then ride on county roads to the SAG stop at Maplewood. There you can enjoy refreshments and music before your return trip through the picturesque Hendricks County countryside. You will re-enter the trail at a designated spot and then return to Williams Park for lunch.

45 miles — This route starts out the same as the 25-miler. After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland and a couple of moderate hills to the SAG stop at McCloud Park. Your loop takes you back to the Maplewood SAG for a 2nd visit, then returns you to Williams Park for lunch.

66 miles — This route starts out the same as the 25-miler. After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland to the SAG stop McCloud Park and then on rolling hills into Putnam County for a SAG stop in Roachdale. Roachdale was the next stop on the B&O Railroad going west from North Salem. After leaving Roachdale, return through North Salem and a second visit to the Maplewood SAG stop before returning to Williams Park for lunch.
