BROWNSBURG, IN (August 29, 2023) – Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in conjunction with the Town of Brownsburg and Visit Hendricks County have planned an exciting, free event at the track celebrating the total eclipse happening locally on April 8 next year.

Race to the Eclipse will take over the drag strip from 1 to 5 p.m., April 8, 2024. The event will include tons of activities and attractions culminating with two dragsters speeding down the track during the three minutes of total darkness.

“We are excited to host fans and the community on what will be a truly historic and significant event with the solar eclipse,” said Kasey Coler, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park’s Vice President of Track Management & Operations. “The fact that Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and Hendricks County is situated for full coverage during the solar eclipse, is truly amazing and we look forward to celebrating with a free community event under the lights.”

The event will include a 5K race the morning leading up to the big astronomical event that requires registration and a fee. During the three hours of the partial and total eclipse, the track will host live music, food trucks, family activities and a beer garden and will pass out commemorative Race to the Eclipse glasses to the first 5,000 people in attendance, allowing them to look at the sun during the event.

Admission is free. Camping onsite will be available for a fee. Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park is located at 10267 U.S. Highway 136, Indianapolis, IN. Click here for more information.
