6 Spots to Enjoy a Craft Beer in Hendricks County, Indiana
Published on
Local growth over the past several years is fueling an upsurge in great brewpubs in Central Indiana.
Thanks to some very passionate beer enthusiasts who have set up shop in Plainfield, Danville, Brownsburg, Lizton and beyond, drinking local has never tasted so good!
Here are some of the best spots in Hendricks County Indiana to enjoy. Let's hop on in...
1. Brew Link Brewing
Located on the western edge of Plainfield, the vibe when you walk in is laid-back, but the beer is certainly not an afterthought. Colorful and quippy, their offerings are brewed on-site and pair well with their cut-above, typical pub fare.
Although I prefer my beer dark, I love their Ivory Stout, which appears light but somehow manages to taste rich and roasty, with a creamy finish. You can practically taste the passion brewed into every pint.
2. The Prewitt Restaurant + Lounge
An upscale night out can still call for a great beer. Though they have an excellent cocktail menu, The Prewitt's rotating craft beer selection is most certainly worth a look.
While visiting this recently renovated gem, catch weekly local music, frequent movie nights on the big screen or grab a drink before heading across the street to Hendricks Live! to take in a show.
Insider Tip: Can't choose a favorite? Grab a sample of three with their craft Beer Flight with house-made Wasabi Nuts.
3. Books & Brews
Cozy book store meets local pub...meets open mic night...meets family game night...when you need a little bit of all of the above, this is the place to find it.
Proudly brewing all their own beers with literary monikers, one visit is not enough to taste all there is to offer at this Brownsburg hangout. This is the perfect spot to unwind, whether alone or with friends.
4. Rusted Silo Southern BBQ And Brew House
Rusted Silo's beer offerings are the most extensive on this list -- by far. This exceptional BBQ joint boasts a variety of nearly 100 different brews, most of which are regional craft beers.
Discerning drinkers will appreciate the variety of options in all categories. Come for the beer, but do not leave without trying the Bbq. The food is truly their passion, and much of it is sourced from local farms.
5. Mokey's On The Square
Small but mighty, this spot in Danville offers a select menu of charcuterie, cocktails and carefully-selected craft brews. Each item is lovingly handmade and crafted to delight both the eyes and the taste buds.
During warmer months, enjoy patio dining for a quick lunch or to linger over a date plate — both of which pair perfectly with an excellent local craft brew!
6. Barley Thyme Kitchen + Brew
The newest addition to the Hendricks County beer scene, this from-scratch kitchen offers a thoughtful food menu that beautifully complements their house-brewed beer selection. I've only tried the brown ale thus far, but I can already say they know what they are doing!
If you visit on the weekend, plan to wait for a table, as this hotspot is often hopping. You can visit through the week for a more leisurely experience. Follow their social media to see weekly food and drink specials.
