Bob's Indian Kitchen Opens in Brownsburg Indiana
Published on
For comfort food that delivers bold, authentic flavors, look no further than local favorite Bob's Indian Kitchen at the corner of O'Dell and Main streets in Brownsburg, Indiana.
The Story Behind the Spice
Bob's Indian Kitchen began when owner Bhavesh Patel attended university in India and learned his elaborate cooking techniques from chefs he tirelessly watched preparing food in the dormitory cafeteria.
Lucky for us, his culinary journey has shaped the menu we get to enjoy at this popular local hangout.
From India to Indiana
For years, if you stopped by the Subway on the north side of Brownsburg, you would likely have seen Bhavesh Patel, also known as Bob, as he managed under the ownership of his uncle. Patel’s kindness made an impression on many, as his list of regulars at his Subway grew.
Patel began sharing his Indian dishes when his regular customers asked to try his cuisine after noticing him eating during quick lunch breaks. Who knew that sharing his personal dishes would lead to the birth of a family-owned restaurant that would quickly become a local favorite?
Friendly Faces
The welcoming atmosphere and spacious seating makes Bob's Indian Kitchen a great place to meet family and friends. Patel's wife, Parul, was so welcoming and friendly when I visited.
So, my first recommendation, especially for first-timers, is not to be intimidated by the menu. She provided great suggestions and descriptions making my dinner choices easier.
Flavors of India
Items on the lunch and dinner menu include appetizers, entrees served with various options of rice or naan, barbecue, pizza, desserts and shakes; all with an Indian twist. Customers can choose from mild, medium and spicy for their seasoning of choice.
A crowd pleaser is their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
Signature Favorites
A customer favorite on Bob's Indian Kitchen menu is Butter Chicken, which is perfect for adults and kids who might be picky eaters. Butter Chicken is tender chicken simmered with creamy tomato sauce, topped with onions, ginger, garlic and spices.
Chicken Tikka Masala is another popular dish with roasted marinated chicken cooked in curry sauce with just the right amount of spice for mild taste buds.
Sweet Endings
The perfect complement to your flavorful meal is traditional Indian desserts like rice pudding, shakes and Gulab Jamun, which are soft fried milk-based balls soaked in sweet syrup.
Masala Tea, which is like Chai Tea, as it's made with milk, tea, sugar and cardamom, also is a comforting finish to your experience at Bob's Indian Kitchen.
