Find Live Music Around Every Corner at Danville Summer Porchfest
Published on
Close your eyes for a moment and imagine live music drifting through downtown Danville on a warm summer afternoon.
Follow the sound around the corner to a band playing from a front porch, let the smell of something delicious from a nearby food truck pull you in another direction or stop to watch an artist capture the scene on canvas.
On Aug. 8, the second annual Danville Summer Porchfest, returns alongside the Plein Air Paint the Town event, bringing 24 musical acts to 14 locations and transforming downtown into an eight-hour celebration of music, art, food and community.
Follow The Music
Hosted by the Danville Rotary Club, this free event invites visitors to move through downtown Danville as porches, storefronts and other outdoor spaces become stages for musicians performing everything from country and folk to rock, gospel, blues and more.
Bring a lawn chair, find a favorite spot or follow the music and see where the day takes you.
Back for an Encore
This year's lineup features a mix of familiar favorites and artists making their Porchfest debut. Those returning for a second year include two performers with strong Indiana roots:
- Landon Keller, a Danville native and third-generation musician, returns to his hometown stage with a sound that blends folk rock and soul.
- Blue Flame Music, hailing from neighboring Putnam County, will bring its high-energy bluegrass sound and award-winning musicianship featuring mandolin and flatpick guitar.
- Tarron Lawson, a Danville native and country musician, also returns to perform in his hometown.
Porchfest Debuts
This year's lineup also welcomes several artists performing at Danville Porchfest for the first time: A sampling of the new artists includes:
- Backroad Revival brings a crowd-pleasing mix of country and Southern rock, with a sound built for a summer evening outdoors.
- Kara Cole Band brings a soulful blend of country, rock and Americana, led by Indiana singer-songwriter Kara Cole.
- 108 Band joins the PorchFest lineup with a high-energy sound and a mix of music designed to keep the crowd entertained.
More Than Music
While music fills downtown Danville, artists will create their own interpretation of the day during the Plein Air Paint the Town event at various locations throughout town.
Visitors can watch as artists set up their easels to create live landscapes capturing Danville's people, architecture and summer atmosphere on canvas.
Food & Access
With 24 acts spread across 14 locations, there is no single way to experience Porchfest. Bring a lawn chair and settle in for a full set, follow the music from one location to the next or let the smell of something delicious from Lumpia Creations, High Country BBQ, Paco's Taqueria or Good Culture Kombucha determine your next stop.
Golf carts are welcome, and organizers have worked to make the experience accessible for visitors of all abilities. Speaking of accessibility...
Accessibility & Parking
Visitors can take advantage of several accessibility features throughout the festival:
- Accessible Shuttle: Sycamore Services will provide an accessible shuttle to and from the festival with drop-off locations on the square and on Jefferson Street, one block north of the square. Check back for pickup location.
- Accessible Golf Cart Shuttle: Accessible golf cart transportation will help guests travel between performance areas.
