Each October, the scarecrows invade Danville, Indiana, where you can enjoy a stroll around the courthouse square and check out some spooky and silly displays.
The scarecrows are the creation of local businesses and, in some cases, local families. It creates a fun way to support the community and a fun annual autumn tradition that fills up the square and provides a little fun for everyone leading up to the annual Scares on the Square event.
Scarecrow Displays
I love walking around the square in downtown Danville once October arrives to see what the local businesses and organizations come up with for their annual scarecrow displays. They are so creative and fun and provide some good photo ops.
You can stop by throughout the month of October to check out the displays but the winner will be announced at Scares on the Square from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 26.
Scares on the Square
Scares on the Square will include food trucks, trick-or-treating around the square, scavenger hunts and more on Oct. 26!
Grab your costume, friends and family and head out for some fun!

Our Favorites
I walked around the square with our youngest to check out each display. He had fun finding the smaller kid-sized scarecrows while I enjoyed seeing the creativity.
Each display is unique and not too scary, which was great with our little kids. The favorites were the Hendricks County Garden Club with the spiders throughout the display and the Hawkeye Storage display with the cut out photo ops that were the perfect height for our 3 year old.
