Doug Cross, known locally as “The Donut Guy”, has grown Hometown Mini Donuts from a food truck into a brick-and-mortar shop in Pittsboro, Indiana. He originally chose the name “Hometown” because it is rooted in the idea that no matter where you come from, there’s something about good food that instantly feels like home.

After 20 years as a military wife, that kind of feeling hits a little deeper for me. So, I wanted to do the hard work for all of you by sampling a few flavors and sharing my experience.

Small-Town Charm

Hometown Mini Donuts storefront has countertops, stools and views overlooking the front porch and Maple Street.

Warm yellow accents, Japanese-inspired touches, accessible seating for all mobility levels and an inviting front porch give Hometown Mini Donuts a cozy, welcoming feel.

Guests can watch donuts being made or find a cozy seating area for relaxing or working.

Can’t-Miss Flavors

Menu at Hometown Mini Donuts

It only took one visit for me to realize I had to pace myself because I easily could’ve tried everything at Hometown Mini Donuts, They had so many flavors I just couldn’t pass up.

From traditional favorites like powdered sugar and chocolate glaze to more unusual concoctions such as lavender sugar and even donuts & gravy, every menu item felt like it had its own little personality, which honestly made narrowing down favorites harder than it should’ve been.

Reese’s PB & Chocolate

The Reese’s-inspired mini donuts were already going to be a favorite at Hometown Mini Donuts, but they took it to another level.

The warm chocolate and peanut butter melted together into pure bliss. It took all the willpower I had in me to stop at just one order.

Cookies N’ Cream

Soft, sweet and finished with just the right amount of Oreo goodness, these cookies-and-cream mini donuts delivered the perfect balance of texture and flavor.

The Oreo topping added just enough crunch to an already decadent bite. I was quickly learning that you couldn't go wrong with any of these flavors.

Apple Cider Cinnamon Sugar

A classic done right, these apple cider mini donuts were warm, lightly spiced and coated in cinnamon sugar.

They tasted like the kind of treat that instantly makes you ready for hoodie weather, football weekends and everything fall in Hendricks County has to offer.
