Roots to Wings Barn Market Provides One-of-a-Kind Shopping Experience
Published on
If you love shopping for antique and homemade items, Roots to Wings Barn Market offers a beautiful and expansive display of more than 30 unique vendors. They have items ranging from home décor to goat milk soap and everything in between.
My family and I love to go antique shopping because it’s different every time. With new items coming in daily, it’s never the same experience twice, and most days at Roots to Wings, you can have some help from rescue pup Swiper.
A Group Effort
What began as a woodworking shop and a few extra vendors to fill the space has been passed down from vendor to vendor to create a thriving and collaborative collection of antique furniture, clothing, jewelry and more.
Missy Ortman, formerly a vendor, now owns Roots to Wings Barn Market and strives to highlight her team in every way.
One-Of-A-Kind Vendors
Sometimes antique shops can appear cluttered with so much going on, making it a little overwhelming.
Ortman is selective when partnering with vendors at Roots to Wings. She keeps the market at high-quality standards with unique vendors, so everywhere you turn, there’s something worth stopping to check out.
Supporting Vendors
In addition to what goes on outside the market, Ortman often hosts pop-up events, such as the store's upcoming Fall Fest, for other local vendors to join in with food trucks, music and community fun.
She often donates a portion of the proceeds to nonprofits such as the Hendricks County Humane Society and others. Watch her Facebook page for upcoming events.
Shop Local
Not only is it important to shop local and support local business owners, but at shops like hers, many of the items sold have been creatively repurposed.
Ortman is always quick to point out that at a market with vintage vibes, most of the merchandise comes with a unique story. That makes a great find that goes perfectly with your home décor, worth the hunt.
