Best Remote Spaces & Other Places to Get Work Done in Hendricks County
Published on
We live in a world where working from home is more common than ever. And while it definitely has its pros and cons, sometimes I just need a change of scenery.
At home, it’s way too easy to get distracted. When my productivity starts slipping, I grab my laptop, toss my essentials in a bag and head out the door. Luckily, Hendricks County, Indiana, has plenty of great options.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet co-working space, a cozy coffee shop, or somewhere in between, there’s a spot nearby to help you get things done.
Coffee Shops & Eateries
Most local coffee shops offer free Wi-Fi, making them a convenient choice for remote workdays. If you’re planning to stay awhile, be sure to support them by ordering a drink or a bite to eat. It’s a small way to say thank you for letting you set up your “office” there for a few hours.
Some of my favorites include:
- Brie & Bartlett, located in Brownsburg, this coffee shop and lunch spot is a great work space option.
- The Beehive is a cozy downtown Danville favorite that serves up hot coffee, specialty drinks and a full lineup of breakfast and lunch options, plus plenty of sweets if you need an afternoon pick-me-up.
- Cabin Coffee Company offers a warm, cabin-inspired atmosphere that makes it easy to get comfortable. In addition to their wide selection of hot and cold drinks, they offer soups and sandwiches, making it a perfect spot for a longer work session when you don’t want to relocate for a meal.
- Best Friends Coffee & Bagels has multiple seating areas with tables and couches that work well for solo productivity or casual meetings. Plus, they have great drinks and food. It can get busy during peak hours, so plan accordingly if you’re hoping for a quieter setup.
Quiet Workspaces
If you’re someone who truly needs quiet, like actual silence, to focus, our local libraries are incredible (and free!) places to work. Hendricks County is home to library branches in Brownsburg, Avon, Danville, Clayton, Coatesville and Plainfield, and each offers its own unique setup and conveniences.
Many also offer reservable meeting rooms if you need a more private space for calls or collaboration. Whether you prefer a traditional desk, a large shared table, an individual study pod, or a comfy lounge chair tucked in a corner, you’ll usually find a spot that fits your work style.
Beyond the peaceful atmosphere, you’ll have access to helpful extras like public computers, printing, copying, scanning and even faxing services.
Co-Working Spaces
Co-working spaces have grown in popularity over the last few years due to their flexibility, built-in community and ability to provide a productive, professional environment without the long-term commitment of a traditional office lease.
Options in Hendricks County include:
- Level Two, located in Plainfield at The Shops at Perry Crossing, offers a day pass or monthly or annual memberships. You'll find a variety of meeting rooms with all the modern office conveniences you may need.
- Elevate Office in Brownsburg is a great option for new and small businesses with month-to-month flexibility on offices and salons, plus high-tech conference rooms. You can also grab a free day pass if you need a place for the day.
- Office Suites West in Plainfield provides traditional office suites along with independent desk spaces for co-working. It’s a practical choice for professionals who want a dedicated workspace without a long-term commitment.
(Note: Some co-working spaces have different pricing/membership tiers; check ahead for day passes if you’re not ready for a long-term commitment.)
