Christmas Tree Farms Within an Hour of Hendricks County Indiana
Published on
Bundling up the day after Thanksgiving or soon after and marching out to a tree farm with the family to cut down a live Christmas tree, hauling it back to the car and bringing it home is a memory you won’t forget.
This year, several of our local tree farms are offering pre-cut tree options even prior to their opening weekend, so be sure to check out the details and make plans for your holiday adventure.
Evans Whispering Pines, Danville
Celebrating 35 years this season, this popular tree farm will once again offer the complete holiday experience. In addition to a pre-cut tree or one you cut down yourself, there are wreaths, ornaments, decorations and more at the gift shop.
Be sure to visit Buddy the miniature donkey and Macey the pony. Opening weekend is Nov. 29. Santa will be there from noon to 5 p.m. and don’t miss the Christmas Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7.
Dull’s Tree Farm, Thorntown
Dull’s Tree Farm is offering an early, pre-cut tree weekend for ticket holders and will officially open for the season on Nov. 29. This year, the field is far enough away, everyone gets a wagon ride to and from the tree field.
Don’t miss the Sugar Shack with their popular donuts and warm drinks. New this year, Santa’s Workshop will offer visits with Santa during select times and the opportunity to build-your-own plush animal. Dull’s also offers ticketed events throughout the season, such as wreath building and gingerbread decorating.
Jay’s Tree Farm, Mooresville
A new generation of the Jay family have assumed operations of the family tree farm this year. Like all the tree farms on this list, at Jay's, they'll help you shake, tie and secure your tree to your car and make the process as easy as possible.
Grab your fresh wreath, ornaments and other holiday items. Enjoy food and drink from food trucks on select weekends and gather around the bonfire to warm up after searching for the perfect Christmas tree. Follow their Facebook page to find out more about weekend events and Santa visits.
Watts Christmas Tree Farm, Zionsville
If you love the real tree scent but don’t care for the actual stomping through snow and cutting down your own, Watts Christmas Tree Farm has a unique option.
David Watts brings his pre-cut trees to Traders Point Creamery in Zionsville each year. They open daily during select hours the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29. For a little extra fun, purchase tickets for Traders Point’s Christmas on the Farm event from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5.
