Destination Danville: A Central Indiana Festival For Makers By Makers
Published on
The Destination Danville Festival is back again this summer!
The festival started in 2020 on the Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville, Indiana, as a way to create community and support local businesses during the global pandemic, but has returned annually as a free, family-friendly makers event and night market.
This has become the festival to kick off summer for our family. We always find a few fun items for our yard and home, and eat some good food.
Here's what you need to know:
How It Started
Sarah Fentz, the owner of Seize the Night Designs in Danville, created Destination Danville to help struggling businesses during the 2020 pandemic. She enlisted the help of her sister, Jessica Cottongim, who owns Reclaim and Rethread.
The sisters were able to utilize their talents and love for community to create a fun festival for all!
Great Vendors
Destination Danville is a juried event with limited categories creating more variety of product options for those attending. They also intentionally keep the booth fees low with the money going toward advertising the event.
Beyond the maker vendors, they boast a variety of food vendors. The many local restaurants in and around Danville's Historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square also provide multiple options to grab dinner before, during or after attending the market.
What To Expect In 2026
For 2026, expect some new vendors, announced regularly on their Facebook page, as well as multiple food and drink vendors.
They'll even have local breweries and distilleries at the festival, but this year, you can also purchase Dora drinks from approved restaurants around Danville to enjoy while you walk within the designated Danville Social District.
Insider Tips
Check the Weather
I always make sure we have our water bottles and a small snack for the kids. One year, it rained, and our kids Loved walking around with their umbrellas.
Bring Cash & Buy It When You See It
Most vendors accept cards, but cash is a great way to minimize their fees. Since this is a maker market and most items are handmade or vintage, many are unique. If you see something you like, buy it before it's gone!
Wear Comfortable Shoes
You may need to park a few blocks away to get to the festival, so you may be walking more than expected. We bring our wagon for our tired kids and great finds.
