Best Spots for Breakfast in Hendricks County Indiana
Published on
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? Whether you like to eat breakfast in the morning, at noon or in the evening, Hendricks County, Indiana, offers a wide variety of restaurants providing delicious breakfast options to suit everyone's taste.
Bread Basket Cafe & Bakery
It's hard to argue with Yelp reviews that have vaulted Bread Basket Cafe & Bakery in Danville to the top of the list of "best breakfast in Hendricks County." Bread Basket is famous for its baked goods and pastries, but it offers much more than that, including breakfast options such as omelets, waffles, biscuits and gravy, granola, oatmeal and more.
It's no wonder Bread Basket is on the Indiana Foodways Alliance's Rise n' Shine Culinary Trail -- a well-deserved spot!
Oasis Diner
I like the Oasis Diner in Plainfield for its tenderloins, pie and other comfort food, but this restored and relocated 1954 Mountain View Diner serves outrageously good breakfast options throughout the day.
Some of my favorites at Oasis Diner include the Kansas City, the Indianapolis, and the Brunch Burger. There is so much food with any of these breakfasts that you'll be hard-pressed to finish them!
Flap Jacks Pancake House
Right across the street from the Oasis Diner is another one of my favorite spots for breakfast -- Flap Jacks Pancake House. They serve breakfast all day, and a coworker of mine and I are partial to their skillets, particularly the Hungryman Skillet and the Mediterranean Skillet.
Part of what makes Flap Jacks a favorite of ours is the customer service. The staff at the Plainfield location is always very cheerful and friendly, and we're there so often they remember our drink orders and almost always guess our food orders. Flap Jacks also has a location in Brownsburg.
Emmy's Pancake House & Grill
Located in Avon, Emmy's Pancake House & Grill is a favorite breakfast spot for locals and visitors alike. Like any good breakfast restaurant, they serve the most important meal of the day all day long.
Whether you're in the mood for pancakes, waffles, crepes, omelets, skillets or French toast, Emmy's does it well. My favorite is one of their house specials, the Country Scrambler -- three scrambled eggs with ham, onions and green peppers, smothered in cheese and sausage gravy.
Court House Grounds
I worked on the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville for 12 years, and since Court House Grounds is on the east side of the Square, it was a very convenient spot to grab a great cup of coffee before work.
Court House Grounds offers a distinct breakfast menu compared to other restaurants. You can find great dishes like Liège waffles, spinach quiche, eggs primavera and an upscale bagel.
The Breakfast Co.
I can't have a list of top breakfast places in Hendricks County without including a restaurant called The Breakfast Co., right?? That would just be wrong!
The Breakfast Co. in Brownsburg is loaded with breakfast options: pancakes, waffles, eggs, omelets, French toast, crepes, skillets, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, healthy breakfasts and the list goes on.
Big Bear Biscuits
If you enjoy biscuits for breakfast, I have a great recommendation for you: Big Bear Biscuits in Brownsburg. This bear-themed restaurant offers a wide array of biscuit-centric dishes, including The Bears and the Bees, Son of a Bear, Smokey, Yogi, Hibernator and the Kodiak, among others.
In addition to biscuits, Big Bear is renowned for its skillets, omelets, pancakes, waffles and more. You'd better be one hungry bear when you arrive because you'll be stuffed fuller than a teddy bear when you leave!
Stacks Pancake House & Grill
Another place my coworker and I regularly frequent is Stacks Pancake House & Grill. The original Stacks opened in Plainfield, and a second Stacks popped up in Clayton (in the former Clayton Cafe) in 2024.
They have every breakfast dish imaginable at Stacks. And you get huge portions of delicious food that won't break your wallet.
