Complete Your Holiday Shopping at Gingerbread Christmas in Plainfield Indiana
Published on
A few years ago, I was introduced to the Plainfield Tri Kappa Gingerbread Christmas and Fine Arts Show at Plainfield High School, and I was pleasantly surprised by how this annual Hendricks County, Indiana, event can take the pain out of shopping during the holidays.
This year, the 55th Annual Gingerbread Christmas is set for Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Here's everything you need to know:
More Than 140 Vendor Booths
With around 140 vendor booths at Plainfield High School this year, the Plainfield Tri Kappa Gingerbread Christmas is a great place to knock out most or all of your holiday shopping -- all in one location! You don't have to navigate through holiday traffic, go to a whole bunch of stores or shop for mass-produced gifts for everyone on your list.
There are unique, one-of-a-kind gifts of all sorts available at Gingerbread Christmas: clothing, jewelry, home decor, seasonal decorations, toys, accessories, art, fun doo-dads and much more. I can complete most of my Christmas shopping list in one day and spend the rest of the season enjoying our fun, memory-making holiday events.
Unique Gifts
At Gingerbread Christmas, Plainfield Tri Kappa doesn't allow mass-produced or imported items to be sold. This is a juried event -- a panel of Plainfield Tri Kappa members screens all vendors and their products prior to allowing them into the event to ensure all items being sold are handcrafted.
They make thoughtful gifts for the people on your shopping list because when you saw this particular item, a particular person jumped to mind who you thought would enjoy it.
Give Back
By shopping at Gingerbread Christmas, you're purchasing a wide variety of thoughtful gifts, and you're giving back. The event is organized and hosted by Plainfield Tri Kappa, a community-service sorority dedicated to "bring women in close, unselfish relationship for the promotion of charity, culture and education."
Gingerbread Christmas serves as a fundraiser for Plainfield Tri Kappa, and the organization uses those funds to benefit the community in various ways. My favorite is in the form of scholarships for Plainfield High School students for college, vocational school and continuing education.
