Published on
Spring is the time of year when most homeowners begin working earnestly in their yards, so it's time to fertilize, plant, mow and grow
Fortunately, there is a locally owned place in Hendricks County, Indiana, where all your gardening and yard work needs are met: Cox's Plant Farm in Clayton.
Experience
A family-owned business, Cox's Plant Farm opened in 1970 and now sprawls across more than 20 acres off U.S. 40 at County Road 0, making it one of the largest nurseries and greenhouses in Indiana.
Greenhouses upon greenhouses upon greenhouses of plants, flowers and trees provide gardeners with everything they could possibly want to plant or hang.
Expertise
Being a landscaping dummy, I was overwhelmed when I stopped in recently to get some ideas for my yard. One employee of Cox's Plant Farm noticed my deer-in-the-headlights look and took pity on me, asking me if I needed help.
I wound up explaining to her what my landscaping desires and issues are, and she took me out to the nursery and showed me several varieties of trees and shrubs that met all my criteria, plus she offered a multitude of suggestions on how to improve my soil situation, which would open the door to quite a few more varieties of plants.
Equipment
After that, I headed inside to their gigantic store that is packed with shovels, rakes, lawnmowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers and parts for all kinds of gardening equipment.
If you need a hand tool, power tool or machine for your yard or garden -- or you need to fix one that you already own -- head to Cox's Plant Farm.
Eye-Catching Plants
After a long drab winter, I'm ready for eye-catching colors in my garden in spring and summer. At Cox's Plant Farm, you'll find an endless array of brilliantly-colored plants -- reds, purples, oranges, yellows, blues and much more!
Turn your garden into an explosion of color with a trip through Cox's greenhouses, where you'll find an enormous selection of mood-lifting plants and flowers.
Garden & Yard Decor
In addition to carrying beautiful plants, trees and shrubs, as well as stuff to make things grow and stuff to make things die, Cox's Plant Farm has a huge selection of shepherd's hooks, wind chimes, sun catchers, plant marker signs, yard decorations and on and on to add elegance to your home.
If you can think of something that you need for your yard or garden -- experience, expertise, equipment, eye-catching color or elegance -- odds are exceedingly excellent that Cox's Plant Farm has it.
