Mary & Martha Home Brings High-End Shopping to Brownsburg Indiana
Published on
When The Arbuckle development opened in Brownsburg, Indiana, many of us hoped it would one day bring together great dining and sophisticated shopping in one place.
That dream became a reality when Mary & Martha opened its doors in 2022, welcoming guests with timeless home decor, thoughtful gifts and a warm sense of community.
Step inside and discover why this charming boutique has quickly become one of Brownsburg’s most inviting destinations.
Is She Mary Or Martha?
Dawn Johnson, owner of Mary & Martha, often hears the question: “So, which one are you? Mary or Martha?” The truth is, she’s neither.
Inspired by the biblical sisters, Dawn named her store as a gentle reminder to live with balance. Like Mary, who cherished faith and family above all else, it reflects her values and the heart behind everything she brings to the shop.
A One-Of-A-Kind Partnership
After more than two decades running a beloved home décor boutique in northwest Indiana, Dawn Johnson decided it was time for a new chapter. She and her husband relocated to Brownsburg to be closer to their daughter, Sarah Chastain, and her growing family. So, they brought Mary & Martha along with them.
Today, Dawn focuses on the creative direction while Sarah manages daily operations. It's a mother-daughter partnership built on trust, shared vision and a love for creating spaces that feel like home.
No Big Box Or Discount Store
With a prime location in Brownsburg's Arbuckle development, Mary & Martha invites shoppers into a beautifully curated space filled with warmth and character. Every scent, display and vignette has been thoughtfully arranged by Dawn herself. The ever-changing selection of cozy throw pillows, candles, vases, framed art and more ensures there’s always something new to discover.
There is one favorite that never leaves the shelves - the beloved Jellycat line from London. Known for its irresistibly soft plush toys and coordinating storybooks, it’s a sought-after brand for gift-givers and collectors.
A True Passion
Even after more than 20 years in business, Dawn Johnson’s passion for home decor shines as brightly as ever. She takes pride in creating a personal shopping experience, where customers can share their design challenges and leave with ideas tailored to their homes.
Dawn and her daughter, Sarah, have also made giving back a cornerstone of their business, proudly supporting the Brownsburg Education Foundation, which funds local student grants and scholarships.
Endless Array Of Gift-Giving Ideas
Finding the perfect gift feels effortless at Mary & Martha, where Dawn, Sarah and their team treat every shopper like a friend.
They’re happy to help you select something meaningful and wrap it beautifully with tissue, ribbon and charm. For those who prefer to let their loved ones choose, their gift certificates are presented in elegant boxes tied with bright bows, turning even a simple gesture into something beautiful.
