Murphy Aquatic Park Offers More Than Waves & Water Slides
Published on
Let's be honest. When Indiana humidity cranks up and stepping outside feels like walking into a sauna, finding a place to cool off becomes a priority.
Murphy Aquatic Park in Avon checks all the boxes with slides, a wave pool and plenty of family-friendly fun.
During my visit, though, I discovered some of the park's best features aren't the ones making the biggest splash. It's the thoughtful touches throughout the park that help make the experience welcoming for a wider range of guests.
Make A Splash
The universal rule of summer is simple: if there's a giant bucket overhead, kids are going to stand underneath it.
Murphy's water playground delivers exactly the kind of splash-filled chaos kids love, with spray features, climbing areas, water wheelchair access and enough action to keep them entertained for hours.
Catch A Wave
No trip to Murphy Aquatic Park is complete without a stop at the wave pool. The gradual, zero-entry design makes it easy for visitors of all ages to wade in, find their comfort zone and enjoy the waves rolling in.
Pro Tip: When the lifeguards call for a break in the main pool area, the wave pool remains open.
Fun For All
Murphy Aquatic Park offers water wheelchairs to help more guests experience the water.
Seeing families enjoy the pool together was a reminder that some of the best summer memories happen when everyone has the opportunity to join in.
Beyond The Water
Murphy Aquatic Park includes features you don't find everywhere, including a play communication board designed to support visitors with different communication needs.
It's one of several thoughtful details that help create a welcoming, accessible environment for families while keeping the focus on what everyone came for: a fun day in the water and play area.
Beat The Heat
After a few trips to the wave pool and water playground, a shady spot starts looking pretty appealing.
The private cabanas offer a comfortable place to cool off, enjoy a snack, or simply take a break before heading back out for more fun. They're a great option for families planning to spend the entire day at the park.
The Little Things
Not every kid is ready to tackle the slides or brave the wave pool, and that's where the kiddie pool shines.
The shallow water, splash features and wide ledge create a comfortable space for younger children to play while parents stay close by. It's the kind of area that lets little ones build confidence in the water while still feeling like a part of the action.
Worth The Trip
Some places live up to the hype, and some don't. Murphy Aquatic Park absolutely does.
Between the wave pool, waterslides, splash areas, water playground, the perfect snack shack and thoughtful amenities throughout the park, it's easy to spend an entire day making memories without ever hearing the dreaded words, "I'm bored."
