Scarecrow Spectacle: Danville Indiana's Annual Tradition
Published on
Each October, the scarecrows invade Danville, Indiana, where you can enjoy a stroll around the courthouse square and check out some spooky and silly displays.
The scarecrows are the creation of local businesses and, in some cases, local families. It creates a fun way to support the community with an annual autumn ritual that decorates the square and provides a little fun for everyone, leading up to the Scares on the Square event.
Scarecrow Displays
I love walking around the square with our kids in downtown Danville once October arrives to see what the local businesses and organizations come up with for their annual scarecrow displays. They are so creative and fun, and provide some good photo ops. We always try to pick a favorite display.
You can stop by Danville throughout the month of October to check out the displays and vote for your favorite.
Scares on the Square
While the scarecrows come out and stay through the month of October, winners won't be announced until the Scares on the Square event held from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 24.
During the event, Downtown Danville transforms into a Halloween celebration for all ages. The evening will include food trucks, trick-or-treating around the square, scavenger hunts and more.
