November 2026 Event Primer for Hendricks County Indiana
Published on
November is that transition time of year where it feels more like winter than fall, where the days are colder and shorter but it is also the kickoff to the holiday season.
From tree lighting ceremonies that bring the community together, to craft shows filled with treasures and upcoming performances, that make for a great night out on the town.
All around Hendricks County there are great events to enjoy this November.
Hendricks Live!
For the month of November, Hendricks Live! is the place to be. There are multiple great performances lined up from Hendricks Live! York Automotive Concert Series, so whether you are a music enthusiast or wanting a good laugh, check out these upcoming shows.
But keep in mind they may have limited tickets, so don't delay.
Tree Lighting Ceremonies
I love this time of year because there is something so magical about communities coming together with a festive spirit.
The holiday season is always so short so make sure you plan to take in the beauty of one of these tree lighting ceremonies.
Holiday Shopping Events
The holiday season also gives me an excuse to go shopping, and personally I love a good craft show, including:
- St Malachy Christmas Market
- Elves on the Loose: Scavenger Hunt, Santa Visit & Craft Fair
- Avon United Methodist Church Holiday Craft Fair
Other great shopping events in November also include Ladies Night Out and Shop Small Saturday in Downtown Danville.
Drive through Winterland
Grab some hot chocolate (my favorite is Danville Dips gourmet hot chocolate made with Ghirardelli chocolate) and drive around Hendricks County's premiere holiday drive-thru event, the Winterland Holiday Light Show.
This holiday light display is located at Ellis Park and is open daily Nov. 20 through Dec. 27, except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. On weekends (Nov. 28 through Dec. 21) families can visit with Santa at the Ellis Park Train Station.
The Indiana State Coin Show
The Indiana State Coin Show will be take place Nov. 20 and 21 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Plainfield Indianapolis Airport Hotel.
This event will showcase dealers from across the country, and feature a variety of coins, currency and more.
NMRA Danville Model Train Show
The annual NMRA Danville Model Train Show will chug along at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The event includes an impressive 28,000 square feet of trains, dozens of model railroads, more than 200 vendor tables with model trains, accessories and supplies in all the popular scales. Visitors can also enjoy modeling demos and contests, prize giveaways and food concessions for purchase.
Drive-in Movie
I love drive-in movies, and I wish Hendricks County still had an operational Drive-In Movie theater, but this event on Nov. 20 might be the next best thing!
Grab some hot chocolate and blankets and get cozy in the car enjoying the holiday classic, Elf at Lincolnwood Park in Brownsburg.
All Aboard the Polar Express
For children there is something so special about believing in the magic of the holidays and the story of The Polar Express is no different. Washington Township Parks and Recreation will host The Polar Express Experience on Nov. 28 at the Washington Township Park Pavilion Center.
It will feature festive activities, including crafts, a mini-train ride, snowball fights, photos with Santa and more. So put on your comfy pajamas and grab your golden ticket for an adventure at Washington Township Parks and Recreation's North Pole.
