Downtown Danville has quickly become our family's go-to spot for year-round fun. It offers a variety of events, restaurants, shopping and even some fun photo opportunities.

You can explore special events throughout the year, or just enjoy a day or evening on the square for a date night, family outing or a friends night out.

Check out this photo tour of Downtown Danville to get inspired for your next visit.

Great Places to Eat

The iconic Mayberry Cafe is located on the north side of the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square. Both a local favorite and a destination spot, the cafe offers large portions of great food and a little Andy Griffith Show nostalgia to create a great place to enjoy a meal.

As you travel around Downtown Danville, you can grab a coffee or meal from The Beehive or Court House Grounds or grab lunch and an ice cream at Danville Dips. The Bread Basket Cafe & Bakery is great for breakfast, lunch or specialty desserts. If you're looking for a fun date night, check out Central Normal Tap or Mokey's on the Square. Both offer events throughout the month, too.

Enjoy the Shops

As you walk through downtown Danville, you can shop at Seize the Night Designs to find some great items. A couple doors down from Danville Dips, you can find a variety of books, including from local writers, at The Author's Patch or some amazing, handcrafted items at Forget-Me-Nots or Gallery on the Square.

Great Spots for Photos

There are also great murals and art around downtown Danville. You can enjoy the art or take a selfie or photo. The South Alley Activation was recently finished and has created a great place to sit and enjoy the artwork or sit at the tables and enjoy the view of the historic courthouse.

The Mayberry Cafe also creates a great backdrop for pictures!

A Bit of History

You can also learn more about the area while touring the Hendricks County Historical Museum and Old County Jail. You can take photos around the museum or jail and historic courthouse too.

Danville Public Library is one of the few remaining Carnegie libraries that is still being used as a library. They have added on as they've grown but you can still walk up the historic Carnegie Library steps to enter the space.

Festivals & Events

Downtown Danville loves to celebrate! Throughout the year you can join in on the festival fun with Christmas on the Square or Scare on the Square or Destination Danville. The historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square creates a great back drop for all the festivities. They also offer the Danville Farmers Market on Saturdays during the summer months for a weekly event May through August and First Friday Cruise-Ins to enjoy the community energy while you check out the cars.
