Shopping local isn’t something I enjoy doing just over the holidays. It’s always great to support our local entrepreneurs and their families all year long while discovering those unique or vintage items you can’t find anywhere else.
There’s something fun about walking into an antique shop or boutique on the hunt for that one special item and bringing home something unique to you. So, I decided to put together a list of local shopping gems in Hendricks County, Indiana. Don’t forget to invite a friend or two!
If you want to stay in one area all afternoon, Brownsburg might be the spot. There are home décor items and antiques at Roots to Wings Barn Market and Gizmo’s Galleria, and clothing at Ella Mae’s Boutique and Michele’s Boutique and Gifts.
In addition, don’t miss the variety of unique finds waiting to be discovered at Sweetie’s Candy Boutique and Mary & Martha.
Style Threads Resale and Boutique in Avon offers gently used, name-brand apparel with sizes ranging from extra small to 3X. You can find home décor, purses and other accessories too.
While you're in Avon, no trip would be complete without sampling some homemade fudge at The Fudge Kettle. The store also specializes in nostalgia candies like Boston Baked Beans, French Burnt Peanuts and many more old-fashioned treats.
Not only do they have some great places for shopping and entertainment, but the town of Danville also features historic buildings and a hometown vibe.

Don't sleep on the small towns in western Hendricks County. You can find antiques at Copper Top Customs and Highway 40 Mercantile in Clayton.
Some other shopping favorites include the Belleville Farm Market for fresh produce during the spring, summer and fall months and the gift shop inside Bear's Lawn Care & Garden Center in Lizton.
The Town of Plainfield is another local spot shoppers could spend all afternoon. Start at Gilley’s Antique and Decorator Mall on the west side of Plainfield and then head east toward the downtown area for African Plum Home & More, On a Whimsey Boutique, Earth Wear and more.
Just a little further down U.S. 40, find the latest fashions in clothing and other accessories at Younique Culture and Simply Chic.
