You can even connect with other fans at the annual Doctoberfest, a Doctor Who convention held every fall.

For a breath of fresh air, check out Echo Hollow Nature Park, perfect for families and solo travelers alike. This natural area features a 5.5-acre pond for fishing and numerous hiking trails. If you’re out near dawn or dusk, you may even be lucky enough to spot the endangered Indiana Bat that the park’s name is inspired by!
Eat Old School Grub at The Oasis Diner
The retro-style Oasis Diner in Plainfield serves up classic, hearty eats in a uniquely nostalgic environment. The original building, built in 1954, was once on the Indiana Landmarks “10 Most Endangered Buildings” list. However, after efforts to revitalize the structure, it reopened in 2014 as an old school restaurant that should be on any road trip bucket list. It’s a true blast from the past!
Pick Apples at Beasley’s Orchard
Beasley’s Orchard is the spot for family fun and boasts plenty of year-round activities. The farm and orchard offer U-Pick strawberries, apples, and pumpkins, depending on the season. The Barnyard Bonanza features a children’s play area with games, open flower fields, and weekend events running from mid-September through October, including the Heartland Apple Festival. The orchard is also dog-friendly, so four-legged family members can join the fun too!
