Dawn Johnson, owner of Mary & Martha, often hears the question: “So, which one are you? Mary or Martha?” The truth is, she’s neither.
Inspired by the biblical sisters, Dawn named her store as a gentle reminder to live with balance. Like Mary, who cherished faith and family above all else, it reflects her values and the heart behind everything she brings to the shop.
A One-of-A-Kind Partnership
After more than two decades running a beloved home décor boutique in northwest Indiana, Dawn Johnson decided it was time for a new chapter. She and her husband relocated to Brownsburg to be closer to their daughter, Sarah Chastain, and her growing family. So, they brought Mary & Martha along with them.
Today, Dawn focuses on the creative direction while Sarah manages daily operations. It's a mother-daughter partnership built on trust, shared vision and a love for creating spaces that feel like home.

Dawn and her daughter, Sarah, have also made giving back a cornerstone of their business, proudly supporting the Brownsburg Education Foundation, which funds local student grants and scholarships.
