Believe it or not, even though Keith and Chrisy Frazier have owned the Plainfield Frigid Frog and More for over five years, my family and I have never stepped into their brick-and-mortar shop at Ind. 267 and Main St. and boy, were we missing out!

Like many, we had encountered Frigid Frog through their mobile trailer at school, church and sporting venues. The county favorite pops up at all sorts of community events and even rents the concession stand from spring to fall at the Avon Junior Athletic Association’s (AJAA) property, offering drinks and snacks to players and their families.

Step Inside Frigid Frog and More

My two daughters were thrilled to learn that mom had just so happened to schedule a quick stop at the Frigid Frog at the end of their first day of school.

Walking in the front door, we had to take care of the most important thing first – a double scoop of chocolate ice cream with sprinkles for each of my kiddos.

For those of you less picky eaters, they have more than 30 different flavors, including Black Raspberry, Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie and Cotton Candy Twist to name a few.

Also on the menu, visitors can purchase shaved ice in a variety of flavors like Bubble Gum, Toasted Coconut and Pineapple. Popcorn, cotton candy, Black Rifle Coffee and homemade cookies from Momma Shell’s Cookies (in a small shop within the building) are also available.

All About Family Frigid Frog Interior

The Frazier’s goal is to set up an environment the entire family can enjoy. Grab a treat and hang out for a while either indoors or out on the back patio and green space.

Inside, visitors will find lots of seating, arcade games and a big-screen TV playing family friendly movies.

Be sure to bring some quarters; some of the games cost a quarter or two, while others are free.

Upstairs, two more rooms offer seating (perfect for a birthday party or family get-together), and you’ll find board games, books and other fun things to do with the kids.

The Great Outdoors Frigid Frog Exterior

The weather was beautiful the afternoon of our visit, so most of the guests were camped outside on the back patio and green space.

The Frigid Frog has lawn seating, benches and gathering areas to enjoy a snack and outdoor entertainment

We joined in on a giant Connect Four game, tetherball, cornhole and additional arcade-like games like Skee-ball, basketball and foosball.

It’s the perfect location for an after-game stop with the team, a scout troop or a family looking for an evening of outdoor fun.

For the History Buffs Frigid Frog Historic Building

Driving by the old home, one can’t help but wonder what we know about its history and thanks to a recent book published by Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library’s Sarah Wright, 50 Historic Buildings of Plainfield, Indiana we know everything from the day the house was built to the date the Frigid Frog took ownership.

The home was built in 1874, for just under $3,000 through the Western Yearly Meeting of the Friends Church (the Friends Church denominational headquarters) to house a small family and caretaker of the books, tracts and Bible’s used at the church.

The home passed through several hands over the years, serving as a residence, Jim Lautenschlager’s Insurance Agency and the Holsclaw law firm group before opening as the Frigid Frog in 2022.

While the Fraziers have worked to provide family-friendly games and space throughout the shop and outdoors, they aren’t stopping anytime soon.

Keith is currently working on refurbishing a minibus into a new food truck. Though the trailer has provided a few options, the hope is, that the minibus will allow Frigid Frog more selections while on the road. Expect to see the newly designed minibus in the fall 2022.

In addition, they are creating a food space outdoors for families that want a little more than ice cream or shaved ice, and they are hoping to partner with the Friends Meeting Church next door to utilize the park area for possible movie nights and other events.

The Frigid Frog and More is located at 303 E. Main St., Plainfield, IN 46168.
