The Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center in Plainfield, Indiana, is home to one of the most popular destinations in Hendricks County: Splash Island Family Waterpark.
The outdoor waterpark is about to get even better, as Splash Island has undergone a massive expansion and renovations that will be completed in time for its regular Memorial Day weekend opening. Let's take a look at what you can expect.
New Bigger Waterslides
Splash Island has added three thrilling 2½-story-tall water slides complete with a taller tower than the existing one. One of the new slides even requires a tube that users have to carry to the top for their winding adventure. But the new addition I am most looking forward to is the slide that features a giant bowl at the end for high-speed spins.
New Fun For the Little Ones
A new play area for little ones promises to be a big hit. The Guppy Tank has been designed for infants and small children and features a palm tree shower and toucan. In addition to this new splash pad attraction, the original children's play area has been renovated for hours of fun in the sun.

Additional Amenities
Splash Island will add more Funbrellas to provide shade on the scorching hot days and 200 more deck chairs as part of this year's expansion and renovation.
Want even more luxury? Four private cabanas that can be rented daily have been added to the four-acre property. The covered cabanas have chairs provided and feature electricity. They can be rented through the website.
Expanded Hours
Splash Island has expanded their hours and added an incredible members' only hour, weekdays from 10-11 a.m. Monday-Friday. All other guests can enjoy Splash Island from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. On Saturday, they open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday closes out the week with park hours set from noon to 6 p.m.
Leisure River, Diving Boards & More
The new expansion is an awesome addition to Splash Island. Nonetheless, the tried-and-true attractions are must-sees too. There’s an interactive play area that is getting a slight renovation but still includes a kiddie slide and other amenities. A lily pad crossing with ropes that kids of all ages love the challenge of crossing. The three original water slides also remain as does a leisure river, and a six-lane competition pool with an attached diving well and two spring boards.
