Explore the Libraries
One of the best free resources in the community is the local library. Beyond books, many libraries offer movies, board games, puzzles and even art galleries you can check out. They also host free events, such as story times for kids, book clubs and craft workshops.
You can also check out local museum and park passes at some of our local libraries! We visited The Indiana State Museum as well as Eagle Creek while using passes we checked out from the library. Avon, Brownsburg, Danville and Plainfield all have great libraries.
Explore the Parks
Hendricks County is filled with great parks! You can explore these on your own schedule and check out their event calendars or the Visit Hendricks County Events Calendar to join in on a scheduled event.
If you're looking for entertainment, check out free concerts and events at local parks. Many of our local park departments organize summer concert series, movie nights and seasonal festivals that cost nothing to attend. Bring a blanket and some snacks from home, or grab takeout from a local restaurant and enjoy the show!
Budget-Friendly Dining & Date Nights
With three young kids, going out on date nights doesn't happen very often. One great way we have found to save money is by taking advantage of happy hour specials or just going out for drinks and appetizers or desserts.
Looking for good lunch specials is another way we've been able to go out for the date experience. Eating out as a family can easily add up so we try to take advantage of kids eat free deals!
Fun for the Whole Family
The indoor play places throughout Hendricks County are great places to explore. The Center at the Well in Brownsburg, The Center at Northview in Danville and The Treehouse in Plainfield are all free and open to the public!
You can also take advantage of deals like Half Price Thursdays for arcade games at Pinheads in Brownsburg or grab a movie at The Royal Theater in Danville where movies are always $5 each!
